I think so. Even Return of the Jedi ISN'T in the same league as the two previous films, but was necessary so as to not end on a cliffhanger.

I don't think the Prequels do anything to the OT as far as 'tarnishing' them. I think the new ST erases the struggle and successes of the OT, so it does indeed kind of make it all seem pointless.

Exactly. The Star Wars saga should have ended, and as far as I'm concerned DID end, with Revenge of the Sith.

For me Star Wars is Lucas' Star Wars of ideas - I can live without Adult Diaper Hans and his EmoRen son of a gun. However, if the quality output of R1 is maintained I have nothing against new films, if they are not just repainted old plot beats and designs like the The Farce Awakens.

Depends on where the ST goes. If they plan on completely undoing plot and character developments from the OT so they can "put over" the new kids with a rehashed story, then it should have just ended with the OT. But if they can somehow redeem the "unraveling" that TFA did, then it'll be fine.

No, the prequels are great extensions of that universe and animals of their own. Very creative films.
The sequels, lets wait about that, does not look good too far, and by the looks of it Ep8 will not bring too much new stuff either, at least not on a design level.
