Just came back from seeing the Glass Castle. I liked the movie, but mostly for its "potential". I wonder how good the book was. Anyone here has read it?
If so, did you feel sympathetic toward the parents? Or were they more of antagonists? The movie made them somewhat likable, and I wonder if in the book it is similar. From what I read on wiki the mother was a complete psycho, neglecting her kids, and the father a raging alcoholic who kind of terrorized the family.
In the movie their bad sides are probably a bit downplayed I feel, and that is part of the problem I have with the movie…
Your thoughts?

Neither, but funnily enough last week I went into a thrift store and there was a copy of the book on the shelf, so for a quarter I decided to pick it up. Haven't started it yet though.

Sounds like a great date movie. I'm sort of sick of these 'grief porn' flicks.
