The Best Film was "STAR WARS".

Many good films on the list but none are outstanding in my opinion. I voted for Saturday Night Fever because it was a good film that ably captured a time. Oddly, it was hyped as an ode to disco life but in fact it's a condemnation of it.

Annie Hall--best romantic comedy.
Smokey and the Bandit--best "just for fun" movie. Also one of Hitchcock's favorites in his later years.

From your choices:
1. Smokey and the Bandit 2. The Spy Who Loved Me 3. A Bridge Too Far
I loved Star Wars, but the prequels and the tainting by Lucas of the original film over the years caused me to really lose interest. If the original untainted version ever sees a new 4K release I might change my mind...
Overall though, I believe 1976 was a much stronger year.

Celebrating the movies of 40 years ago! I actually did a "best of 1977" poll a few months ago myself, and the 3 movies that finished on top are the same 3 leading your poll right now. I guess the people know what they like...lol.
