A lot of the uneducated representatives of the ignorant masses of sheep following modern nihilistic idealism whine about Math showing there is a supernatural force, and that you do exist separate from your brain and body as a meter reader.
Technically, this meter reader is referred to as a "spirit", but most just call it a "soul".
So, here's some Math for you. I don't want to scare the sheep, so if you do doubt your courage, proceed no further, for Truth alone awaits you with nasty, pointy teeth.
We'll take the human body. We'll take three specimens. We'll call them Kirk, McCoy, and Spock. Step one of the geometric equation. Three individuals, three entities of cognition within organisms.
Now, there are two possibilities. Either your "meter reader" soul only exists as something with the brain, or it exists apart from the brain. It could be matter or energy within the brain. However, the fact is that not one bit of matter or energy has remained the same with the brain since these three people were born, so we already have proof it isn't matter or energy. Even a "process" isn't the same, so it isn't that.
But the materialists don't want to hear that, and we don't want them to whine and cry, so we'll continue on another course.
The transporter beam is science fiction, but transportation of the data isn't. Even the transportation of atomic bits has been done. The scientists who experiment with this, when asked, will say they would not want to be "transported', because they are first annihilated and then reassembled.
So, we have the theory of transportation being a reality in terms of matter, energy, and the adjoining processes. That's mathematical step two in this equation.
So, now we have:
1. Three organisms, Kirk, McCoy, and Spock.
2. Transportation of matter, energy, and adjoining processes in their body from one place to another.
3. They now are transported, being annihilated and then reassembled just as before. They breathe, they function, they perform.
We now have two more possible scenarios. Either the original "meter reader soul" is reassembled with each of them, or it is not.
So, A will be the scenario in which the original meter reader is not with them
B is the scenario in which the original meter reader remains with them.
Now, in the event the original "meter reader soul" is not reassembled with them, then why are they not just the same as computers? Do they have "meter readers"?
So A has two mathematical possibilities to fit the scenario.
A1. No meter reader
A2. A new meter reader.
A1 means that the brain works the same as a poorly functioning computer. There is no motivation. Kirk, McCoy, and Spock perform even better than before without the ego of an individual having individual worries or motivations. There is nothing to slow down the reflexes or thought processes. If steam escapes from a caldera beneath them, they immediately recognize and read the data, and proceed to vacate the premises. Same for collection of food and resources.
If A1 was a possibility, then humans long ago would have evolved into such computers, and those with "meter reader souls" would have died out within three generations. I'll grant at most five generations realistically.
Mathematically, this scenario would mean none of you have any cognition today, and so it doesn't exist as a possibility.
There is also the fact that if the brain doesn't need a soul, why does one become attached? And how?
A2 would mean there is a new meter reader. Now, where does this come from? If it's from the same processes of chemicals and energy, then this new meter reader would "inherit" the memories, and be fooled into thinking it was the old "meter reader soul". This then would also be the case for every change you do go through in your existence. It would mean that each time you go through a life changing experience, like if you once believed bears were all kind and peaceful, then you find bears attacking and killing people, your brain would then set a new pattern, and a new set of processes, making you a new "meter reader soul", a new cognition, only you would have the same memories, and hence you would not realize you are a new soul.
A2, I admit, is a logical possibility in Math, but it is the only one, as we shall see.
Now we get to B: The original "soul" remains with Kirk, McCoy, and Spock.
So, if B is true, then there is an instance of annihilation, and then reassembly. If Kirk is annihilated, how is he reassembled? Not true annihilation then. Always a slim chance of return in the same scenario. And how close does the scenario have to be?
But the real problem with B is that this "teleportation" means that the reassembly can take place on planet Earth, planet Krypton, and planet Uranus. The reassembly can be in three places at the same time. How then can the same meter reader be in three places at the same time?
If the three are actually all three Kirks, three McCoys, and three Spocks, then either the three Kirks have three meter reader souls, by logic, or the one, by no logic. If it is one soul reading the meter of all three, then the Kirk on Earth and the Kirk on Krypton feel the agony of the Kirk falling through the falling frozen gas of Uranus, and both would smell Uranus from millions of miles away.
How can the nose work in such a way? It would not work in Nature. It would be "supernatural".
So, we've covered the possibilities, and come to the obvious conclusion, that apart from the science fiction possibility of A2, the soul exists apart from the brain.
