If you add TV series and Movies, then Star Trek.
Star Trek is a deep and meaningful allegory on Humankind and how after the discovery of other life forms on other planets, we are no longer white or black, we are HUMANS.
Its about advancing our civilization and looking at ourselves as equals and accepting others.
Star Wars is just Good vs Evil, a simple story about the balance of light and dark. The longer they expand the series, the more repetitive it is.
Star Wars is more philosophical and spiritual. There are NO Human Beings, they are all aliens from planets in another galaxy years and years AGO...
Quick summation, Star Trek is more intelligent, but the masses love laser shows with easy to understand narrative and drama, so most people prefer Star Wars...

I don't like anything in the expanded universe cuz I hate all the books, toys, merchandise, and what not.And I have no use for video games. I liked the original trilogy and I like TNG series,I liked parts of/most of the force awakens but those are NOT parts of the expanded universe. Oh I like tie fighter though.

Star Trek, though I am really a 'fan' of TOS.
