I've just finished season six of The Next Generation, and I'd say it's on par with the original series. Though I would still go with the latter for my favourite of the two. Need to get around to Deep Space Nine at some point.

My vote here was for Star Trek: Voyager and has always been my first favorite since it aired back in 1995 . Thanks Cuish for your subject post .

TOS is my favorite. Even the 3rd season has grown on me. I picked up the blu ray about a month ago just to complete my set and I started watching it and I'm enjoying it more than I used to, a lot more. Though Spock's Brain and a few others are just the worst. Sorry!
I still want to love TNG and even watch it from time to time but it just doesn't work as well. That series, to me, owes a lot to Patrick Stewart, who brought real gravitas to the role and, by extension, the series itself. The rest of the cast, with the occasional except of Data, were not that good. And whenever Q shows up is a lot of fun. I hate, and I cannot emphasize this enough, I really HATE a Klingon on the bridge. And the depiction of Klingons overall is awful. They are little more than mindless animals so much of the time. In TOS there was a savagery that went hand in hand with a nobility. Maybe my favorite moment is when Data's evil twin beat up Worf in the turbolift.
The same goes for the other series, though I have watched very little of DS9, Voyager or Enterprise by comparison. I found the complete series of Enterprise on blu ray for a very cheap price so I do own that now. And I have been told how good the last two seasons are.
I have not watched Discovery at all, other than a few clips.
By the way, there is a fan-made series on Youtube that carries on the original series crew's adventures and, I think, does a credible job. No, the actors are not going to be as good, but all things considered, they pulled off a remarkable feat.

I went with TNG. I watched it semi-regularly for a while back in the day. I've never seen a single episode of the original series, Voyager, or DS9, and I only saw the premier episode of Enterprise.

I have only seen The Next Generation (Because Patrick Stewart was in it). And i do like this series. But i honestly have no interest in watching any of the other Star Trek series.

tng without a doubt.
i did get into original series when that was the only live action series made/out at the time [had no idea the cartoon even existed]. trouble with this... i was a child [not the problem] but the show would be aired on Saturdays at like 5 or 6 pm on channel 5 [or maybe 11]. that still wasn't a problem.... the problem, since this was a Saturday, we were most likely out at some godforsaken place like Pergament or hopefully beefsteak Charlie's.
i hardly had a chance to see tos consistently but i absolutely adored tng while the credits were still rolling of the first episode i saw.

Since Jaws (1975) IS your favorite film of ALL-TIME...then IS "The Doomsday Machine" your favorite episode? IF NOT then which one is?

I'll rank them from favorite to least favorite
1. Star Trek 2. DS9 3. Voyager 4. Enterprise 5. TNG
Honorable mention to TAS which is in a different category.

What are you favorite Trek episodes? 1. Is a tie between "Balance of Terror" and "Mirror, Mirror". Also ranked high for me are: "The Corbomite Maneuver" which may have the BEST writing and dialogue of the entire series. "Where No Man Has Gone Before", "The Devil in the Dark", "Space Seed", "The Changeling", "The Doomsday Machine", "Amok Time", "Journey to Babel", "The Ultimate Computer", "The Enterprise Incident", "Day of the Dove", "All Our Yesterdays", "Requiem for Methuselah" and "Wink of an Eye".

I agree with all of those episodes. I didn't used to like Wink of an Eye but I watched it not that long ago and I really enjoyed it. Same goes for Requiem for Methuselah. I am still not sure why Kirk fell so hard for Rayna, though it does lead to an incredible final scene between first Spock and McCoy and then Spock and Kirk. Lots of 3rd season episodes I am re-evaluating. The Corbomite Maneuver really does have great writing. I also love the direction in that episode by Joseph Sargent, who would go on to direct Jaws the Revenge. More than any other episode, it revealed to us the innate leadership skills of a brash young Kirk, quick to anger at times and other times so cool under pressure, able to see a possible solution. And even glimpses of Spock when he stumbles, almost apologizing to Kirk for not being able to provide a better recommendation.
