It doesn't have to be. If they kill him fine, if they just let him sit on the shelf and recast him in 4 or 5 years fine, and if Downy wants to keep going full time or just show up on occasion then the character has no real age requirements and he can do it for another 20 years if he wants to. By the end he could just be the Director of Shield or something. Any of these are perfectly fine.

They should kill him in 3 so that Cap can die in 4. Killing both in one movie would be a bit much.

Yes. Otherwise we'd wind up in A VIEW TO A KILL territory where the actor's age is too distracting.

Yes. As much as I like Iron Man and Rdj playing him I just think it's time to stop with his arc. It actually should have ended sooner, but I guess and I'm hoping they want to end it with Avengers 4.

Yes. Otherwise we'd wind up in A VIEW TO A KILL territory where the actor's age is too distracting. I don't think it would be the same. It's not like Iron Man is a physically demanding role, most of the action involving Iron Man is just CGI anyway. If Michael Keaton can play the Vulture in another armoured suit at 65 then RDR could continue to play Iron Man for many years.

The end of Iron Man? You know you are just asking for them to replace with Riri Williams, right?

I wish they would kill off Captain America instead. I would like for the guy that plays the winter soldier to take over for Captain America, mostly just because of acting preferences. But you have to wonder how much longer they are gonna keep RDJ around.

Tony could retire from active duty and just serve as mission control. I think having more than one person in the suits to replace would be an easier pill to swallow. Like, havr Rhody, Rir, Pepper, and maybe a fourth person approved by Tony take over on missions he sends them on.
