The actress Jean Spangler dissapeared on the 7th of October 1949 and the only clue about her disappearance was an unfinished addressed to a "Kirk," which read:
"Can't wait any longer, Going to see Dr. Scott. It will work best this way while mother is away,"
Neither this Kirk or this Dr. Scott was ever located and nobody who knew Jean Spangler knew anybody named Kirk og Dr. Scott. And they could fine nobody conected to Jean Spangler with those names. There was not even any proof that this Kirk or Dr. Scott actually exsisted.
LAPD has not closed the case and she is still listed as a missing person.
So what do you think happened to Jean Spangler who disappeared almost 68 years ago ?
My guess based on that note is that she comitted suicide

My detective skills tell me that like so many illegal abortions down through the centuries, the patient died from infection. "Dr. Scott" disposed of the body, perhaps at sea. "Kirk" either kept his mouth shut so as not to become involved or just thought Jean had left town.

So many people goes to Hollywood hoping for a glamorous career as a star in movies and later in Television. Meeting persons who says they can help her career if she/he only does this and that, and all they see is time passing by, but nothing happens. The above was generally speaking, not about Jean Spangler specifically.

Sounds a bit like Mulholland Drive (2001).
"Kirk" is assumed to be Kirk Douglas. Spangler had a bit part in his "Young Man with a Horn".

"Scott" could easily have had his license revoked if he had been found out performing an abortion before, which would be why cops couldn't find "Dr. Scott." That the note was found in her purse and that it was unfinished indicate that Kirk didn't read it. I suppose the question still looms about his identity, but I doubt we'll ever know for sure. A tragic story.

...reminds me of one of my all time favorite authors...Ambrose Bierce who disappeared in Mexico in the early 20th century...
