Ann Savoy was filmed by Les Blank early in her career. She played cajun music with Michael Doucet. Here she expounds upon cajun influence and the work of hypnotic cajun music pioneer Cleoma Breaux ... Check it out :
"You have to stay in shape. My grandmother, she started walking five miles a day when she was 60. She's 97 today and we don't know where the hell she is."
- Ellen DeGeneres
In more recent times, Savoy has been working and performing with Linda Ronstadt or applying her own sound to fluid cajun line-ups.

Interesting little documentary about Ann. I was only aware of husband Marc Savoy because of the film, Southern Comfort (1981). I remember being mesmerized by the Cajun music during the party scene.

'Southern Comfort' impacted me greatly too. The soundtracks Ry Cooder recorded for Walter Hill's films in the 1980s were fantastic.

Yeah, I just looked again at Hill's filmography for that decade and I see what you mean. Btw, I like that you have quotes from Irving and Vonnegut in your profile. I'm a longtime John Irving fan.

Oh cool. In general, I like reading alot of American authors who got big in the 1950s / 1960s. Those two writers are great how they mix drama and comedy (tragi-comic, or serio-comic lol).

Thanks for posting this. I've enjoyed her work with the Savoy-Doucet Cajun Band and The Magnolia Sisters.
