Halloween season is here - for me at least - I always get it going 2 months in advance. Here's the lineup I usually go with and tweak here an there on occasion on October 31st. Please critique and be harsh if you must and post your lineup as well (FYI - I ALWAYS take off on Halloween - it's a holiday to me ) First things first I usually pick up a 30 pack and veg on the couch with a cheesesteak stromboli and veg out watching: 1. Frankenstein 2. Dracula 3. The Wolf Man 4. House of 1,000 Corpses 5. Trick R' Treat 6. Halloween 7. Night of the Living Dead What would you ditch? What would you add? And what's your lineup? Cheers!

I definitely feel the Halloween vibe too. The air has turned a little cooler, and as such, my thoughts have turned to October. Just today I tested my fog machine to make sure it's in good working order for Halloween.
With that said, I don't usually have a lineup of movies I watch. I so rarely get a chance to watch films anymore. When I do, though, I usually pick movies I've never seen from the 1980s and before. I've been in sort of a 1970s TV movie mood lately, but that might change. I'll also get one of those 250 pd movie sets and pick some I've not watched yet.
I tend to watch Svengoolie on Saturday nights (just about the one time a week I do watch a movie), and as such, this year I will probably skip the Unversal classics. He's been beating those into the ground lately.

Svengoolie is on MeTV, which is available in my area over the air. I think the show has a deal with Universal, because it tends to play Universal classics from the 30s and 40s, as well as some Inner Sanctum films and other mystery-horror films.
It's not as good as Monstervision or Elvira, but it's better than nothing.

I do a horror movie marathon (aka 'Horrorthon') every year starting either in late September or early October and usually running up to Halloween night. It can include horror-themed TV shows as well. I used to do a lot of double bills, but gave that up after suffering bad eye strain/headaches in 2015. Will only watch the one movie on Oct 31st itself, but hope to see many more in the preceding weeks. Halloween is really more of a season than a day in my house (much like Christmas).
As for the line-up, it'll include the likes of The Conjuring movies, numerous 80s slasher flicks, Insidious, Raw and a whole host of others that I'm just too lazy to list right now. Most will probably be first-time viewings. I'll also be revisiting the 1980s anthology series Tales From the Darkside, having purchased the first three seasons on DVD this summer.
Last Oct 31st I actually didn't watch anything, but I'd just completed Season 1 of Ash Vs Evil Dead so I didn't really mind. The year before I'd watched Halloween II followed by The Babadook.
RE your Halloween night line-up, it's pretty good if you're into the old Universal horrors. I'm more of a Hammer man myself though and would tend to opt for some of their late 50s/60s material. Halloween and Night of the Living Dead are, of course, classics of the genre and perfect viewing for the night in question. Was disappointed with Trick 'R Treat though. Personally, I'd recommend one of the old-school Amicus horror anthologies - i.e. Tales From the Crypt (1972) or From Beyond the Grave (1974).

I'll probably think about a horror movie lineup in late September. Hopefully there'll be a couple of Halloween-themed new releases. Might try and take a couple days off work around Halloween as I've not been able to take any days off in August and September due to staff cuts so I have a few stacked up.

On Halloween, I tend to watch movies that fall on the actual date itself: Halloween, Trick R' Treat, The Halloween Tree, Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Halloween, Fear Itself, and All the Way, etc.
But for the entire month of October, all I watch is horror movies. I put everything else on hold and go through my dvds/Netflix queue.

Last year I did the Omen trilogy, but for this year's Halloween I've been thinking of a marathon of the first three Halloween movies. And I'll probably throw in Nightmare On Elm Street (1984) since it's been a while for that one.

Great acting and incredibly creepy. I do realize a lot of people 'hate' remakes. And this seems to garner a lot of 'hate' seems people hold the original in such high regard. I thought it was great - just as I thought the Dawn of the Dead (2004) remake was great.

Out of the Tales from the Crypt, Tales from the Darkside, Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock, etc - it is one of my favorite 'shorts' of an anthology out there - ending scared the crap out of me when I watched it as a kid. As far as Trick R' Treat goes - it's got a 'soft spot' in my heart now and has grown on me over the years - I was initially a little let down - but like Preach stated above - it's about 'Halloween' - it's a fun ride if you take it for what it's worth - you're not getting The Shining here - but it's 'Halloween'

Just realized Halloween is on a Tuesday this year. How lame. It's really gonna cut into my movie watching.

Hell - take a '5' and let it flow into Wednesday - apparently Nov. 1 according to some is supposed to be the 'most evil' day of the year. Sanheim or something - escapes me right now - goes back centuries about the seasons changing and the death of the growth season and the beginning of the 'dead' season. I love stuff like that - has a whole 1700's vibe to it like 'The Crucible' if you've ever read / seen that. i.e. Superstitious. I'm a sucker for stuff like that - still have got to watch 'The Witch'.

I watch Turner Classic Movies a lot during October. That's because I primarily gravitate towards the Universal monster movies, Hammer Films productions, and Vincent Price's collaborations with Roger Corman.

Shows you have brains and an open mind. 2011 version of The Thing is terrific - saw it in the theater and loved it - own it .....

I anticipate re-watching it soon enough.
