Richard Matheson's classic story has spawned quite a few films and probably will spawn quite a few more before it's over.
Though it is the least faithful, I'll take "Omega Man" over the cheap but very faithful "Last Man On Earth" and the rather sketchy though well meaning 2007 film which owed more to "The World, the Flesh and the Devil" than Matheson.

The Omega Man depressed the hell out of me when I saw it as a wee lad so I voted for The Last Man on Earth. That will smith travesty made me depressed that people think he's Oscar worthy.

The Last Man on Earth (1964). Can't beat Vincent Price.

The Omega Man, if just for the desolate city landscape shots, it is worth viewing for that, How did they manage it?
Last Man on Earth is terrible and laughable, the mutants look like stray Italian shoppers with hangovers.
I am Legend, not bad lacking in story unlike the Omega man, so it could be far better.
All are better then the book- read it and cringe.

I love The Omega Man and Charlton Heston but I have to go with The Last Man On Earth, because Vincent Price.

I've seen The Last Man on Earth and I Am Legend.
I hate I Am Legend because it lacks any impactful drama, it lacks suspense of any kind and it isn't even remotely scary or creepy. This is one of the biggest example of misusing cgi.
The Last Man on Earth is the exact opposite. It has an effective dramatic backbone, it builds tension well and best of all a feeling of doom lingers over the entire film. Vincent Price is obviously a plus as well.

Omega Man is a classic WB production and I enjoyed the realistic take on the virus. I was tempted to add the original "Night of the Living Dead" since it is something of an unofficial adaptation since Romero admitting to ripping off Matheson. Since it grew into it's own thing, I decided against it.

My favorite is The Last Man On Earth--The creepy b&w filming added to the bleak atmosphere--Omega Man, despite Charlton Heston's charisma, was kind of a big mess
