Saturday Night Live kicks off its 43rd season on September 30, 2017, with host Ryan Gosling and musical guest Jay-Z. What cast was your all-time favorite, and what individual performer (whether part of that cast, or another) did you (or do you) most enjoy watching ?? SAVE FERRIS

What cast particular cast was your all-time favorite ??
SAVE FERRIS The original. 'SNL' was BEST during their first five seasons. Followed by when the late great Phil Hartman was on. Other than that it...SUCKED. And it SUCKS now.Original cast for sure.

While not the most talented bunch, I grew up with the late 90s/early 00s cast (Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, etc), so I'm kind of partial to them. But Chris Farley is my all time favorite cast member.

This is probably an age thing with me but the original, post-Chevy Chase, when Belushi, Ackroyd, Radner, Curtin, Morris and Murray rocked and ruled. It was,--what--three, four years? Not much more. It was a very funny show back then, and not yet an "institution". Now it's run like longer than Ed Sullivan, longer than Johnny Carson. I haven't watched an episode in years. When SNL ceased to be a young show and became more a "young idea", as in catering to a young crowd, a certain demographic, it began to lose its edge. It's worth mentioning that a lot of Boomers in my age range do watch it still, though my sense it's wanting to stay hip and be with what they used to call the "in crowd"

This show was only good imo, during the late 80's early 90's when phil Hartman was one. You know the period i'm talking about? Every other period from this show has been pretty bad. And unfunny. But that's just me.

Maybe because I grew up with it, but I like the early/mid 90s with Mike Myers, Dana Carvey and Phil Hartman.
Dana Carvey was so funny on SNL and then his film career was a bust.

The one in the 80s was the one I grew up watching plus the early 90s. That was Mike Meyers, Dana Carvey and so. I also enjoyed watching older episodes as a teen on the Comedy channel. I loved seeing Bill Murray & Gilda Radner. The Cone Heads were hilarious too. Unfortunately I have not been able to enjoy any cast after the early 90s. I’ve tried too because friends would comment on skits. But I just didn’t like the show. It doesn’t have the same feel as it use to.

I still have some sentimentality for the Eddie Murphy era, which was when I first started to regularly watch it. I enjoyed that one season when they brought in Martin Short, Billy Crystal, Rich Hall and Christopher Guest as regulars. But overall, I would go with the cast with regulars like Hartman, Carvey, Lovitz, and Mike Myers, though I think Myers outstayed his welcome.
