This film was originally set to be released over a year ago but has been pushed back like 3 or 4 times. It's now coming out this Friday. The setting and cast sounds amazing. But I wonder if they feared they had a bomb on their hands? www.rottentomatoes.com/m/tulip_fever

Like the first half is actually laughable (the audience was laughing in all the wrong places in my cinema), then it gets better, but doesnt save the movie. Despite the really talented cast (what made Judy Dench accept this non-role I will not understand though) the movie is Extremelly cringeworthy, melodramatic and just overall bad. I guess 2017 is not Dane DeHaans year… you do get to see Alicia's boobs, butt and various other parts of her naked body a lot so if thats your thing then by all means see it. Other than that, there is not much there, sad to report.

Ouch, 11% on RT? I missed that. Worse than Transformers 5, Baywatch, and even The Dark Tower.

The second half picked up in quality and there were some scenes that sparker a genuine emotional response in me, and ther was maybe 15 or 20 minutes when I didn't cringe at the movie - which is more than I can say for the Dark Mess Of a Tower Originally it was supposed to be Keira Knightly and Jim Broadband, and that would have made a much more sense and added more to the main plot (revolving around an older man with a young wife). Waltz is simply not old enough to carry the same response when paired with Vicander.

Cara Delevingne was underutilized, same with Judy Dench and a few others. Zach Galifianakis was kinda saving a lot of the movie but it was also those moments that felt like the genre was skipping between drama/romance and slapstick/comedy. Weird. I just read this interesting article by Harvey Weinstein. And I have to agree that the costumes and production design was good. And the movie did keep me interested throughout. However the acting and the pairing and the degree of melodrama in it killed it for me.
