It was honestly the perfect time with how long he's been IWGP Champion and how many great matches he's had. It probably helped a lot that New Japan airs over here too.

I don't know that I'd consider that a big deal. The top 500 was always filled with guys nobody heard of once you get to the higher numbers anyways. What number was he at?

I believe that's the guy that had the 6 star match against Kenny Omega that everybody was talking about. I don't watch New Japan so I have not seen him.

I believe he wrestled in TNA but I"m not sure he was ever in the WWE but everybody else here would know better than me on that.

The Rainmaker made it to Number 1. The first Japanese wrestler to ever make to that number. Not even The Great Muta, Tiger Mask, or Misawa ever made it.

I don't know if that's good or bad. ON one hand, good for them, on the other it says that American fans have had to turn to Japanese wrestling because wrestling in the US is not fulfilling their needs as a fan. But I don't know how big this guy is in the states.
