How did Brad Pitt NOT win an Oscar for this role.
Look ok at these scenes. The whole scenes. It's his "Oscar" Moments...

1. He would have to be nominated first. 2. He would have been up against DDL. It is an excellent performance though.

Casey Affleck didn't either? Wtf? Affleck had the bad luck to be nominated against Bardem. Affleck deserved to win but he was category fraud. Affleck won the Oscar for Manchester by the Sea, so he is still an Oscar winner at least.

I think Pitt is an Oscar caliber actor. Surprised he doesn't get nominated more often nor won any yet.

No, because he's actually not that good of an actor.

No, because he's actually not that good of an actor. His 3 Oscar nominations say different.

The movie would make my top 100, yet DDL & Bardem's work that year were laps ahead of anyone else.

He definitely should have been nominated for his role as Jesse James (over Clooney , Depp and Jones imo) . Such a loaded year and no one was going to defeat DDL of course. Another thing that factored into The Assassination of Jesse James not getting any awards love was due to it absolutely BOMBING at the box office. Such a shame cause its a modern day masterpiece imo.

No, because he's actually not that good of an actor. So let me get this straight. You think Marvel Cinematic Universe films are amazing, but Brad Pitt ISN'T a good actor and this role wasn't that great. Thats all I need to know. Poor taste.

I was guessing this would be a thread about Kalifornia.

I still don't see the appeal of No Country for Old Men. Bardem was flat in the role. But that's how it goes. The Academy has shown in the past 30 years that it is inept and politically compromised in its nominating and judging abilities.
Back to Pitt though, there are numerous times that he should have been nominated and won. Some actors just don't catch a break for whatever reason.

I wish they had just waited and released it the following year. With No Country and There Will Be Blood, they had a lot of westerns in one year as well. Might have done better at the B.O. with a 2008 release on the heels of the success of two western-style hits.
