Enjoy. Disclaimer: The usual. My thoughts: Some of this I knew already, but the part where he explains why they are told not to look reminded me of the ending for "Raiders of the Lost Ark." I found it fascinating, as Spock would say. As a side note I would like to say that the thing I love about religion is that there are virtually unlimited aspects of it, and how it relates to humanity makes for an endless stream of intelligent discussion and debate. Of course, the Peanut Gallery will always be there to mock, and there is an old blasphemer spewing his hatred in the form of lousy poetry, but these are small prices to pay for free speech, wouldn't you agree?

I actually knew the story behind LLAP, but did not know that he and another actress in that episode discussed the hand gesture.
I loved the old "Star Trek", because each episode was like a little morality play. One in particular, "Let this be your last battlefield" stands out:
Commissioner Bele was played by Frank Gorshin. The character was half white and half black; on the opposite sides that Lokai had his half black and half white. The entire episode dealt with deeply ingrained racism.
Back to the hand gesture; yes, it was taken from the Jewish tradition, but Star Trek viewers didn't know that, they perceived it as a secular gesture, such as a handshake. So don't credit religion for a secular phenomenon.
Oh and about "the old blasphemer spewing his hatred in the form of lousy poetry", did it ever occur to you that he had a negative experience, or multiple negative experiences, with religion? As have I? There is a dark side to religion whether or not you want to acknowledge it.
I'd like to quote another great actor, the late Ian McKellan: "I'm an atheist. There's a lot about the Catholic Church I don't approve of, simply because they don't approve of me."

It occurred to me, and it reminded me of those who speculate that Adolf Hitler would have had a completely different life if he had only been accepted as an art student in Vienna. To my way of thinking, it flies as an explanation but not as an excuse. That applies to you and fleet as well.

For my part, 'being excused' is not sought. I don't excuse the people responsible for my negative experiences with the dark side of religion. I know they did it for a reason, but their reason was flawed. If any of them have ever become aware of the wrong they did, they probably thought that their god has forgiven them. But I haven't.

It has happened. The foundations of this board are shaken. The world is no longer what it used to be. Today, on September 2nd, 2017... The Herald Erjen has posted a video worthy of being watched.

The Herald Erjen has posted a video worthy of being watched. Surely we have all fallen into some strange alternate universe! Is this the universe with the good Cartman in it?! Somebody must make a youtube video about the implications of this straight away. And then Erjen can post it here with "the usual" disclaimer and proclaim that he is "collating" about it.

My favorite line in that episode is where Spock says that McCoy is pumping Lokai full of his "noxious potions." Evidently Spock saw the opportunity to pay McCoy back for some of the doctor's barbed comments in previous episodes.

Kirk gotta little insult from Spock in The Changeling last night. Spock- "A dazzling display of logic, Captain" Kirk, smiling- "You didn't think I had it in me, did you" Spock, deadpan- "No sir."
