And they introduced this tag team duo who had won a championship and were coming out with their winning belts slung over their shoulders. I realized that there are no bragging rights in that. It's like parading around and showing off a participation trophy to everyone.

Bret Hart once called attention to it saying that holding it on the shoulder is prestigious and respectful as it puts the belt up much higher.

Bret Hart once called attention to it saying that holding it on the shoulder is prestigious and respectful as it puts the belt up much higher. You missed the point. Did they really win them in an honest way the way other sports teams win the award, such as the struggling Cubs finally won the World Series through perseverance and hard work to fight to get there or was it scripted for them to "win" it? I get that it's all for show but it's really just the same as a participation trophy

There's plenty of hard work and perseverance involved in professional wrestling. Hours at the gym. Training. Thousands of miles logged on the road. Competition among each other to put on the best match.
Gotta disagree. Participation trophies do not include a pay raise and increased media exposure.
