Homecoming is now up to $746 mil after a bump during the US holiday weekend and still has more yet to come from Japan.
That means it needs less than $50 mil from China when it finally opens there, and just to remind everybody, every major superhero film this year has broken $100 million there, and that includes Guardians, Logan, WW, and Doctor Strange.
Now Homecoming is opening very very late there and that will almost certainly take a chunk out of the box office, but $50 seems well within range. Definitely impressive.

It's still doing very well. With Mondays gross it will be tied with Suicide Squad domestically. It's got a real good shot at passing Batman vs Superman as well.
Pre-sales for China are looking good, from what I'm reading it can go as low as $90 million and as high as $120 million.
Perhaps it's looking at making between $840-880 million.

Actually looking at even more recent sales and what people have to say they're thinking it can open to $50-60 million opening weekend in China and $120-150 million total.
So even $900 million and being the highest grossing Spider-man movie is still a possibility.

Look around this site. forums.boxofficetheory.com/forum/73-china-at-the-box-office/So far Spider-man Homecoming has made $7.65 million for opening day pre sales with 4 days to go so that number will obviously rise as it gets closer. They're starting to think $140-150 million there is a possibility which would put it above $900 million. That's probably the absolute high end though.

Thanks, but what am I supposed to be looking at on that page? It seems incredibly disorganized. Well this is the thread with the most recent comments Good stuff, and I'll check that 2nd site for sure. I'm not sure about all the speculation on the page. It sounds like the presale numbers are legit, but everybody discussing how it will perform after I'm less confident about. I'm not at all sure about the idea of 120-150 for instance, but I feel like somewhere in the 70-100 range is very reasonable. If it does better then great!

It's all just prediction for now but those people have been following these pre-sales trends for years and report on them and find all these links to things you wouldn't find on your own. They could be wrong but generally they know what they're on about. Going by the pre-sales that they know of they're probably looking at how other movies performed in comparison and then going from there.

I just haven't seen their stuff before, but hell if they're right, I'll pay attention to them more, and I hope they are.

They should have held back SM:H DVD release back further. It's release is set for October 17 but it will be barely out of the top 10 box office list by then.

What's the low end opening day total if the presales are 13.5? Is that usually a double the number type of thing?

I'm not sure but the people over there seem to think it could have an opening weekend of about $60-70 million based on how it's currently going. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 had an opening weekend of $48 million and finished with $100 million.

Even if it's frontloaded as hell it's still on for more than $100 if that turns out to be the case.
