Let's see... The Adventures of Tom Sawyer 2-3 of the Henry Gregor Felsen car books. Also Mexican Road Race by William Campbell Gault A short story, "Four and Twenty Blackbirds" by Agatha Christie. Kicked off my love of Mysteries. Cowboy Andy Go Dog, Go Orphans of the Sky. One of the books launched my fondness for SF.

The Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Loved the books which is why I had little use for the show.

The only books I really read as a kid past the 'I Can Read' stage were the Fright Time books. I loved those, I read them over and over and over. 9-12, good years.

Definitely the Hardy Boys at least fiction wise. I had most of the blue spine hardcovers by the time I was 11 or 12. I also liked the Three Investigators although it was harder to find those for some reason.
I loved reading books about airplanes and World War II also though. I would check out just about every book on those subjects I could find from the local library. The set I really remember enjoying (which were geared towards younger readers) were Trevor Dupuy's "The Military History of World War II." It was an fifteen to twenty volume set if I remember correctly. The library had them all.

I was big on the Goosebumps series. The Scarecrow Walks at Midnight and the Monster Blood books were probably my favorites. At that time there were shows like Are you Afraid of the Dark and The X Files so it was very easy to like weird, creepy, somewhat frightening (for that age) content.

As a little child, I liked The Pokey Little Puppy and Little Black Sambo.
In middle school, I went for The Chronicles of Narnia and the Wrinkle in Time books.

I recently came across a post that mentioned Chincoteague Island (Virginia), and was IMMEDIATELY reminded of the book, Misty of Chincoteague (Marguerite Henry - 1947), which I probably hadn't thought of since originally reading it back in grade school, some 45-50 (YIKES!!!) years ago. Anybody else have any books from their school days that they remember fondly? SAVE FERRISMadeline Corduroy The Wizard of Oz
