Has anyone here ever awakened from a nightmare/dream only to still be in a nightmare/dream?
In any case, what do you think of this as a trope? Do you like it, hate it? Did you like it at first and now dislike it?
Personally, I don't think I've ever liked it. I don't like scary things happening in dreams, and to do it twice gets under my skin.

No, I have not experience that, yet but when it happens in movies/TV-shows, it seems very lousy/poorly executed and rarely works for me. I think it was either in an episode of Friends of King of Queens where the main lead have a terrible nightmare, wakes up, finds out it was all just a nightmare, then try to wake up his wife, onlt to realize that the nightmare is still on, then wakes up yet again, and it was a bad joke, made worse over and over again.
Of course I would have hated if I ever had a bad/terrible dream, then to think "finally, I am awake" but then it is right back into an even worse dream than the one before. Now that would be brutal. And if there is such a place as hell, then I think it might be the "perfect" punishment, to end up trapped inside an endless stream of nightmares, after nightmares with no chance of ever waking up and escaping.
