I've been intending to read all of Lovecraft's stories for a long time, and would like to accompany them with as many Lovecraft adaptations, or films with Lovecraftian themes as possible. I've compiled a list of the stories and their corresponding cinematic adaptations. Would anyone care to add to the list if you can think of any I missed?
Which ones are your favorites? Which ones do you hate? ___
1920, November 16: From Beyond From Beyond (1986)
1921: The Outsider Castle Freak (1995)
1921: Herbert West—Reanimator Re-Animator (1985) Bride of Re-Animator (1990) Beyond Re-Animator (1989)
1922: The Lurking Fear Dark Heritage (1989) Lurking Fear (1994)
1923: The Unnamable The Unnamable (1988) The Unnamable II: The Statement of Randolph Carter (1992)
1926: Cool Air Chill (2007)
1926: The Call of Cthulhu The Call of Cthulhu (2005) Cthulhu (2007)
1927: The Case of Charles Dexter Ward The Haunted Palace (1963) The Resurrected (1991)
1927: The Colour out of Space Die, Monster, Die! (1965) The Curse (1987) The Color Out of Space (2010)
1928: The Dunwich Horror The Dunwich Horror (1970)
1930: The Whisperer in Darkness The Whisperer in Darkness (2011)
1931: The Shadow over Innsmouth Screamers/Island of the Fishmen (1979) Dagon (2001)
1932: The Dreams in the Witch House The Crimson Cult (1968) Masters of Horror Season 1, Episode 2: Dreams in the Witch House (2007)
Miscellaneous Lovecraft related\themed films
Necronomicon: Book of Dead (1993) (anthology that adapts The Rats in the Walls, Cool Air, and The Whisperer in Darkness) Lovecraft: Fear of the Unknown (2008) (documentary) Cast a Deadly Spell (1991) (TV movie with character "Det. Harry Philip Lovecraft") Out of Mind: The Stories of H.P. Lovecraft (1998) The Thing (1982) Prince of Darkness (1987) In The Mouth of Madness (1994) Lemora: A Child's Tale of the Supernatural (1973) Ghost Story (1981) Possession (1981) Altered States (1981) Europa Report (2013) Under the Skin (2013) Banshee Chapter (2013) X - The man with the x-ray eyes (1963) Bleeders (1997) The Last Lovecraft: Relic of Cthulhu (2009) Call Girl of Cthulhu (2014)
I'm sure you could also argue that the Alien/Prometheus series has Lovecraftian themes too.

Screamers/Island of the Fishmen (1979)
I'm ashamed to have never heard of that one! I'll definitely check it out ASAP. The Shadow Over Innsmouth is my favorite Lovecraft story. I liked Dagon even though it wasn't a perfect adaptation.

The Shadow Over Innsmouth is my favorite Lovecraft story. I liked Dagon even though it wasn't a perfect adaptation. Dagon felt like an 80's horror movie in the best possible way. I feel it's underrated. Even though he didn't really stick to the source material as closely as he could have, Stuart Gordon made the best adaptations of Lovecraft's work out there... or at least made the most entertaining ones. I love how bonkers Gordon's films are. And on that note... where's the blu-ray for Dagon???

'Dagon' is one of my favorite horror movies of all time. 'Altered States,' as well, though I've never really considered any Lovecraft connection.
'The Ninth Gate' seems very much inspired by Lovecraft.

I have all three movies on DVD. I love Herbert West, played by Jeffery Combs
Anyone else notice the theme music is nearly identical to the theme music that was used in original Psycho?

I just caught The Whisperer in Darkness last night, not knowing it even existed. A nicely done B&W, atmospheric rendering of the story that has a superb 1st half and a lesser last third, but worth watching regardless.
There are also several "Lovecraftian" films that were not from Lovecraft writings, but evoke the same kind of unnerving qualities of Lovecraft's work, or have similar elements regarding otherworld beings.
I would say a few of this type are:
Curse of the Demon 1957, aka Night of the Demon
And even the 1980 Curse of the Demon to a lesser extent
The Haunting 1963
Both Corman films, Not of this Earth and Attack of the Crab Monsters from 1957
Nearly all of the Quatermass films.
There's probably many others that I just cannot think of right now.

None of the original cast or crew from the previous films are involved. It's supposedly going to be another adaptation of Lovecraft's story and according to the director a faithful take.
