As I recall, everyone hated Kathy Griffin's decapitation bit or whenever Barron was targeted.

There's a reason for that. Trump is an embarrassment as a human being. Long before he even became president. And he has done nothing to curb that. If anything, it's given him more free reign to be petulant and a mockery of the highest office in what is arguable the most powerful country on the planet. 

Policy wise, what's he done that has improved things? For someone other than rich, white republicans.

What he's doing to DACA is pretty pitiful. His constant dick waving with North Korea is also a problem. And let's not forget his attempts at stifling investigations into his ties with Russia.

In any case, policy wise, it wouldn't change he's an embarrassment to the office. A petulant man-child in office is always an embarrassment.

And I don't find it funny or mysterious. He just knew his audience and knew what would speak to them and ran on those platforms. It's also not mysterious. The guy came out and said and did blatantly sexist and racist things. It really is his own fault he couldn't contain himself.
