LOADS! I have one CD carrier for 31 CDs and another that holds over 90. I also have a shoebox filled with even more CDs and a few stacks in my closet. It sounds messy, but it's pretty organized.

How many albums\CDs do you have? I have about 300 About the same. I estimate 339 based on the fact I've got three 60 CD towers, three 70 CD towers, and a total of 51 open slots.

Somewhere between 800 and 1,000 CDs, and I have no idea how many albums I've downloaded. Now I have Amazon Music, I don't see myself buying or downloading much.

I own about 5,500 CDs and vinyl records. I have a large vinyl collection too, but I rebought the best of it on CD between 2001 and 2008. Good thing too because I no longer have a functional turntable.

I started my collection relatively late. I bought my first CD in 1997—by then I was already in my twenties. I bought my first record in 2000. I built up my collection in the opposite order. I started buying albums on vinyl, because they were cheaper than CD s. Then vinyl became hard to find, so I switched to the CD format when buying new releases. When the number of interesting (to me) new releases plummeted, I started rebuying the best of my vinyl collection on CD. But the last few years have been great time for music IMO. Mainstream music may be bad, but it's never been easier for music fans to bypass the mainstream entirely and focus on what they like. You can preview almost anything on Youtube, and buy almost anything on Amazon.com.

Re what I've owned--vinyl, CDs, cassettes, 8 tracks, etc., it's far more than you'd believe. Keep in mind that I started collecting music as a kid in the mid 1960s. And I used to regularly trawl garage sales, thrift shops, etc., where I'd often enough buy an entire box of LPs for $5-10 or whatever. Plus at one point the size of my collection doubled overnight when I inherited a ton of albums from my grandfather.
In recent years I've given a lot of it away because of space issues, and I have a lot more to give away. But I have everything stored digitally now instead--I still have access to every album I've owned.
Just this past year, I started mostly listening via streaming (I use Amazon streaming. If they don't have something, I can just upload it and then listen to it the same as anything else via streaming). However, I still keep personal back-ups of everything.
I have far more albums than you'd believe digitally, too.
I like variety. I can't stand listening to the same thing too often. So only 300 albums would be a problem for me. I'll easily listen to 300 albums in 5-6 weeks. I don't want to hear the same music every six weeks. That would drive me crazy.

I have a large vinyl collection too....Good thing too because I no longer have a functional turntable. When I got rid of my vinyl record collection about 20 years ago, or so, for some SILLY reason I hung on to a handful of my favorites thinking, stupidly, that maybe one day I'll want to listen to them again. Yeah....going to be kind of hard to ever do, seeing as I no longer own a turntable, or ever plan on having one again. And given the fact that I, of course, re-bought almost all of them on cd anyway, it's kind of a 'double whammy' of stupidity..... At its peak, I probably had somewhere between 100-200 vinyl records, and because your inquiry raised the same question I've been asking myself for years, but never made an effort to answer, I actually did (a partial) count, and extrapolated a total from that, which came out to be somewhere around 1,250 cds. In a way, it's something I've never really wanted to know, because now it actually puts a number on how much money I've blown on what is obviously a non-necessity. Granted, it's these kinds of things that add some 'color' to our lives, but something tells me I could have had CLOSE to the same amount of 'color' in my life, even if I had owned only half as many cds (not to mention the GREEN 'color' my wallet would have SO much more of, were I never to have bought all of them in the first place). So......thanks for raising a simple little question, that makes me feel even WORSE about the state of my sad, sorry little life...... SAVE FERRIS

Do double albums/CD's count as one or two? I count them as one. What about box sets? Like, say for example, Message in a Box. That's all five Police studio albums. Would that count as one or five? And what if I have that box set plus the individual releases?
