What about box sets? Like, say for example, Message in a Box. That's all five Police studio albums. Would that count as one or five? And what if I have that box set plus the individual releases? Its funny you seem to be the only one not able to answer a simple question.

I counted my CDs several years ago and I had a little over 400. At one time I had about 200 LPs, 8-tracks and cassettes, but by the 1990s I got rid of them after buying all of them (again) on CD. Sometimes the CD version has bonus tracks not on the LP, and that's cool. But it was extremely annoying to discover sometimes things have been removed. For example, on Rush's Exit...Stage Left cd, the song 'A Passage To Bangkok' has been removed. On Jethro Tull's live LP, Bursting Out, Ian Anderson ad libs between songs. The CD version has those comments removed.
I'm at a loss to understand why these things are missing. I doubt it's a time and space issue. Once you become accustomed to hearing an album the same way for many years, you miss the deleted material. But I'm not going to keep a turntable around just so I can occasionally listen to my scratched-up original versions of a few albums.

Apparently with the Rush CD it was a space issue

I see it as counting releases. So I'd count this as one-- Charles Munch Collection, as it's one release. But if I had those albums separately, they'd count as 86 albums or whatever it is (I don't remember if any were originally doubles). Likewise, I'd count this as one: Madonna - Music, even though it's technically a single.

Over 4000 counting all the albums my Wifey and I own. I have a lot of them written out on a word document on here but I have been busy with other things and haven't updated it for at least a year and a half and I know I have already got a lot of new albums this year.
