What as a non american is his popularity!
When you get older fart jokes isn't jokes anymore, they are a reality!
Is he the Jerry Lewis of the 2000s? And the french will give hime medals? And 25 years later we will understand his jokes?
It's wonderous that he made so many movies that made so much money (Yes I did my homework) Not gonna say as some snobs do that he makes flop after flop, something he obviously didn't do while looking at Box Office Mojo.
Is his secret charm that we too at one time or another, feels uncomfortable in our situations and wishes to scream ourself, but when he says things we wish we had said we go bonkers.
opinions?

He's a youngster.
Well, he's a few years younger than me, at least.
I love Sandler. The folks who rag on him generally seem like asses who I wouldn't hang out with offline for two minutes.

I like Sandler even though his "overgrown manchild" schtick has gotten old, a lot of his movies have egregious product placement, and I know he has admitted a lot of his recent films, particularly ones that co-star his SNL/movie buddies, have just been paid vacations for him.
“Yes. I have done that since 50 FIRST DATES. It was written in another place, and I said, ‘Imagine if we did it in Hawaii, how great that movie would be.’ And they where like, ‘Yeah, that’s a very artistic idea.’ And I’ve been doing that ever since.”

I use to like Adam Sandler, but his movies have been awful for a while now. His brand of idiot humor use to be charming to a certain degree.
These are the 10 Adam Sandler movies I can tolerate.
1. Funny People 2. Punch-Drunk Love 3. Spanglish
Those aren't really Adam Sandler movies in the traditional sense though.
4. Happy Gilmore 5. 50 First Dates 6. Click 7. Billy Madison 8. Hotel Transylvania / Hotel Tranylvania 2 9. The Wedding Singer 10. Anger Management (because of Jack Nicholson)

It has a fun idea and has a couple good scenes but as usual Adam Sandler's comedy style sucks the life out of it. Call me crazy but I am someone who thinks comdies should be funny.

That means they have little to no respect/appreciation for the types of comedy films Sandler does. And since that sort of comedy is one of my favorite genres, but it gets little respect from snobby cinephiles in general, it pisses me off.

I love Seth Rogan movies, Jim Carrey movies, Family Guy etc. and you seem to ignore all the other Sandler films I listed. I don't have much respect for his movies though you are right, but not because I am a snob. I dislike most of them because they aren't funny AT ALL and have little to no effort put into them. Reign Over Me is phony sentimental crap. A snob is someone who looks down on people who like his movies and I don't do that, but I am not going to say I like his movies when I don't. You are doing the same thing that you are accusing me of doing. You are saying because I like those 3 movies the best that my opinion shouldn't be respected.

I don't mean that to be rude, my point is that why should I respect a comedy that fails on the most basic level - being funny or enjoyable. As I said above, he has some good comedies but many bad comedies. Imo of course.

It's not looking down on you, it's getting pissed off at the disrespect of the genre. Here is one example. Grown Ups 2 is one of the most painfully unfunny, most irritating, lazily written and unlikeable comedies ever made imo. Why does it deserve my respect on any level?

Obviously the people who don't like it think it's unfunny or whatever, but it's like a racist saying that they dislike subhumans.

I never said I don't like or respect the subgenre, but like any genre there are good and bad movies and most of Sandler's movies aren't good. Unless you are referring to ONLY late career Sandler movies as it's own subgenre. Do you like EVERY subgenre of film? There is a big difference between not liking an entire subgenre and not respecting it. I don't like spoof movies but I don't hold any ill will towards the genre.

When I write something like "That subgenre of comedy gets disrespected" I'm not at all focusing the comment on you as an individual. It's a broader comment than that.
