Kind of mediocre so far. Maggie Jellohell has ugly tits. But I'm guessing you prefer it over Twin Peaks: The Return, right?

Too early to decide. Which do you prefer?

When you compare the first two episodes of each show, it's really not even close. David Simon obviously has a good track record so I trust him. Do you like Simon's work?

Yes I'm a fan of Simon. Even though I think it tends to be overrated The Wire was a great show. Homicide: Life on the Street is one of my favorite shows ever and I think it was better than The Wire. I couldn't get into Treme and gave up in Season 2. The Corner was ok. Never saw Generation Kill. I really need to read his Homicide book.
Do you like all his shows? Did you watch Homicide back in the day?

Yeah, "The Wire" is one of my favorites. I've only seen the first season of "Treme" but maybe I would have liked it more if I was from New Orleans or took an interest in the city's culture. I liked "The Corner" and "Generation Kill." Saw "Show Me A Hero" a few weeks ago which I liked as well.
And I've yet to see one episode of "Homicide: Life on the Street." I noticed it lasted 7 seasons. Did it ever decline or did the writing remain strong?

I thought Homicide remained strong. Several of those season were short as NBC kept moving the time slot around and it always seemed on the verge of being canceled. Only 13 eps in Seasons 1 & 2 combined. Brilliant (but ever changing) cast and writing. It handled themes that were controversial at the time especially for network TV. Being a fan of The Wire you will see several stories and bits on Homicide that later were repeated on The Wire. You definitely need to overlook the fact it was network TV and give it a try.
I started to mention part of the reason I didn't like Treme was because I'm not a fan of new orleans. Being from Atlanta, new orleans is a NFC South rival so there's no love lost. I never had much pity for people too dumb to leave the city before katrina and as one of the cities that took in and housed and fed and supported katrina victims the whole Fuck Atlanta Houston New York speech John Goodman's character gave was very off putting. I'm sure many in Houston that also took in thousand of those ungrateful deadbeat lowlifes were also pissed off.
