Saw this movie today.
I enjoyed it, BUT it was quite stupid, shallow and the plot was super-artificial. 3 extremely nice, well behaved, trustworthy and polite (not to mention model-looking, stylish and smart and oh year also kid loving - in the healthy way-) guys move in with a rich pretty white lady who just captures their hearts while going through a laughable "crisis" herself?
Reese Whiterspoon is so likable that you still rooted for her non-character, but man was it bad scriptwriting. And directing. Never have I seen so many (awkwardly long) close ups on various people laughing at dinner. They looked like they were having a good time. Too bad whatever stories they were sharing must have been much funnier than this "comedy".
I would rate it 4/10 and that is me being very nice to the movie and being biased toward Reese. It should really be 3.
But I would still recommend it as a harmless (if vapid) chick-flick that has a few sweet moments and one or two eye candies. So if easy romance and good looks are what you look for in movies, this one is for you.
All the best to the director and her effort to outperform her parents. Judging by her debut, it will be tough.
Anyone here saw it? What did you think?

Nancy Meyers never did it for me anyway, except perhaps for The Parent Trap and I haven't seen that movie in well over a decade. She always struck me as the poor woman's Nora Ephron.

She always struck me as the poor woman's Nora Ephron. i quite liked 3 movies she wrote and directed and a few she wrote. simple romantic comedies perhaps, but not insulting or boring. but this was a completely different league.
