My oldest brother was one of the men George W. Bush first sent over to Iraq and was killed during the invasion that toppled Saddam Hussein's regime. Fuck you. And every time you and other MCU fans claim that Steve Rogers made a sacrifice, you're insulting him and other soldiers in the military, many of whom actually made real sacrifices, unlike Steve Rogers who made know sacrifice at all and is living a good life - healthy and young and having super-strength due to taking super-PEDs. Dude, I know that both fandoms like to have their own dick measuring contest and like to get each other all riled up, but you are literally the biggest piece of shit I've seen on this site, including the politics board. Do you get off on being this much of a asshole?

DC-Fan and @weirdraptor , I've told both you guys that you're acting immaturely by bickering constantly over goddam comic-book movies--but, DC-Fan , this is indeed a new low that, as seahawksraawk00 noted, does you no good and will win you only the bad feelings of fellow posters. To suggest that a whole group of people hate our troops just because they like one series of movies over another is illogical, insulting, and foolish. DC-Fan, you do not know the people to whom you're writing on an Internet forum. You don't know their lives, their thoughts, their emotions--anything about them. To claim that you can read their minds just because they like some movies that you don't like... Dear God, just listen to yourself. "Steve Rogers" is not a real person and, thus, not a real soldier. Whatever those folks claim or don't claim about these movies--which, if it is what you say it is, is also going a bit overboard for my tastes--does not give you grounds to claim that they're insulting soldiers. My father and grandfather were Army, one of my good friends is currently in the Air Force, and another good friend is a Navy officer serving right now in Japan. On their behalf, DC-Fan, I am insulted by what you wrote.

seahawksraawk00 That is true, point taken. I'm not in the service myself, but my buddy in the Air Force tells me that too. Thanks for the reminder.

Steve Rogers is a beta male turned into a superman by foreign scientists to fight Hitler.
He is then sent out of his time and never feels at home (neurosis).
Or he learns society is corrupt.
When it comes to soldiers in Hollywood--it depends on the usage. So when they needed soldiers to die in WW 2 they portrayed them as courageous. But when they wanted to demonize them (Vietnam) they presented them as neurotic (i.e. First Blood, Firefox) flawed or sadistic or whatever. They would sometimes blame anonymous white male bureaucrats (Rambo 2).
In Avatar they have a villainous white career military guy.

No need to lower your standards to a piece of shit Like I explained to you idiot MUC fans, I'm not the one who dropped to a low here. It's MCU fans who dropped to a low by continually claiming that Steve Rogers made a sacrifice like Steve Trevor did. I've said over and over again that STEVE ROGERS MADE NO SACRIFICE AT ALL!
ARE YOU NOW CLAIMING THAT STEVE ROGERS, WHO IS STILL ALIVE AND IS A HEALTHY, YOUNG MAN LIVING IN A WORLD THAT HAS PLENTY OF THINGS THAT WEREN'T AVAILABLE IN THE 1940s, MADE A SACRIFICE LIKE STEVE TREVOR AND ALL THE OTHER SOLDIERS WHO WERE EITHER KILLED OR MAIMED FIGHTING FOR THEIR COUNTRY IN WWI AND WWII? IF YOU ARE, THAT'S INSULTING TO ALL THOSE SOLDIERS WHO REALLY DID MAKE SACRIFICES.

Not sure why you're confusing fiction with reality here. It's even more bizarre that you say MCU fans are disrespecting Steve Trevor, even tho he's a fictional character. Seriously dude, reassess yourself right now and what you have said, especially the day before 9/11. If you really don't know what you did wrong, you don't deserve to be on here.

I NEVER said they hated our troops because they're MCU fans. I said they INSULTED soldiers who made sacrifices by claiming that Steve Rogers, a healthy, young man who gets to live in a world that has plenty of things that weren't available in the 1940s, made a sacrifice. MCU fans are basically saying that being frozen for 70 years and waking up in a world with plenty of things that weren't available 70 years ago is equivalent to being killed or maimed fighting for your country in a war. Taht's how insulting MCU fans are to our troops. And anyone who defends MCU fans for that, like you apparently do, are just as insulting to our troops and YOU are the ones who are stooping to a new low.My father and grandfather were Army, one of my good friends is currently in the Air Force, and another good friend is a Navy officer serving right now in Japan And if you're not ashamed of MCU fans for claiming that Steve Rogers made a sacrifice equivalent to the soldiers who were killed or maimed fighting for their country in a war, then you're just as insulting to all our troops. On their behalf, DC-Fan, I am insulted by what you wrote. On behalf of all our brave soldiers who made sacrifices in wars throughout the history of this country, I AM INSULTED IN THE WAY YOU DEFEND MCU FANS FOR CLAIMING THAT STEVE ROGERS MADE A SACRIFICE LIKE THE SOLDIERS WHO WERE KILLED OR MAIMED FIGHTING FOR THEIR COUNTRY IN A WAR.

I honestly don't get DC-Fan right now. I'll admit I've acted immaturely about Marvel vs. DC, but dear God, I can't fathom pulling a stunt like this. I know he's a troll, but what is the endgame he's hoping to accomplish here?

You and MCU fans still won't explain why you think that. Is it because you know I'm right and you truly are ashamed of yourself for claiming that Steve Rogers made a sacrifice when he made no sacrifice at all?

@weirdraptor
I've no idea.
As I wrote on the other thread, we as humans have an innate defense mechanism; if we know that something we have done is morally wrong, and others tell us point out its wrongness, we tend to defend it as much as we can because we know it's wrong--doubling-down on it, so to speak. We all do it, and of course the only "way out" is not to say nasty and foolish comments in the first place (or, at least, try to minimize such comments). Such behavior is only exacerbated by the Internet, needless to say.
Still, the initial comment was not (as far as we know) provoked, so I can only attribute his behavior to his intellectual immaturity, combined with a remarkable vanity. Provocateurs ("trolls") tend to provoke exactly because they're emotionally needy and are desperate some reaction from others, whatever that reaction may be.
Again, I know this is all amateur psychology hour, but so be it--such uncalled-for comments are extraordinary and deeply troubling.
Thank you for this. I know from personal experience that's a hard thing to say, especially regarding things about which we care deeply.

Yeah, the anonymity granted by the internet allows for all kinds of nastiness you would never get away with in polite society. If he said something like during a real life person-to-person argument with an MCU fan, he'd really be gambling with his personal health, because if that MCU fan either also had family in the military or WAS in the military... Oh, to be a fly on the wall for the ensuing beatdown. It was a bit difficult to admit.

DC-Fan, I know I promised not to get involved any further (whew!), but I have to say this: If you had written this question, in this way, in the first place, you would not have received the pushback you're getting now. Why is that? Here, you're criticizing an in-story element of the movie and people's response to that. Fine. All that would have happened is that you and @weirdraptor would have gone back and forth, as usual, over which one's better--etc. That is not what you did in your OP. Rather, you questioned other Americans' appreciation for our troops. You asked, "Why do MCU fans hate US soldiers?" You wrote that fans of these movies "...insult all the US soldiers who either died or were maimed fighting for their country in WWI or WWII..." That is crossing the line, plain and simple. It is impeaching the character of an entire group of people, whom you do not know, for reasons that have nothing to do with the point at hand. I have no dog in this fight. I think both sets of movies are equally dull, but--comic book-wise--I've always been a fan of Superman, especially in Golden and Silver Age comics. But, to be honest, all that is irrelevant. You behaved in a way that insults a great number of people, when you could have asked a question, got involved in some back-and-forth, and been done with it. It's a grand ol' thing just called basic decency and respect.
