Share your thoughts on Independence Day. I rated it 10 because its cheesiness is what makes it entertaining, and for that reason, it still holds up after 21 years.

6/10. I like it fine. It's a fun slice of 90s cheese. But it does have its boring parts, especially in the second act. The effects and action has held up very well though.

6/10. It has some cheesy writing (besides the famous "Independence Day" speech), but the visual effects and action scenes are still exhilarating.

7.5 I gave it an 8
It has grown a bit of a chore to sit through, it's been a long while since its re-watchability aged away.
Still, technically well produced & managed. I like all the WH stuff including Air Force One. This was before an era of force feeding young romance front & centre - ID4 simply sprinkles that stuff around & with more adult relationships.

7/10.
An entertaining movie, but Steven Hiller, Julius Levinson and especially Russell Casse are extremely annoying characters.

A 7/10. It's a fun summer blockbuster, the ultimate summer blockbuster really. Entertaining and funny in parts with likable characters.
Good special effects for the time too.

Loved it for what it is - an Independence Day patriotic movie that opened on Independence Day!
8/10

6/10 movie that gets an extra point for the Pullman speech scene alone. So: 7/10.
