Simple question: Make a prediction about the 2020s.
For example, I predict there will be a 1920s nostalgia movement in the 2020s.
How about you? Any prediction you'd like to make about the 2020s?

We'll finally get a generation of young musicians who want to create their own thing and not just keep rehashing stuff from the past 50 years.
. . . well, or maybe that's just wishful thinking, but still.

Prediction One:
the 1990s Trend was the 1970s (That 70s show, lots of movies about Water gate, Nixon, and that era)
the 2000s trend was the 1980s (Trucker caps, Pac-Man, Atari/Nintendo etc)
the 2010s trend is the 1990s (rebooting Ducktales, Rocko and Hey Arnold with 90s fashion and even Walkman/Tapes on 13 reasons Why)
So my prediciton is a 2000 or Y2k nostalgia in 2020s.
Prediction Two:
Cable will be completely gone by the end of the 2020s decade. All shows/movies etc will be streaming live. News and local stations will be available to stream. You will have to pay for each stream service separately. NETFLIX, HULU, SLING, then DISNEY for their content, VIACOM for MTV, NICK etc.. WB for TNT, TBS, etc.. HBO and the lot.
Prediction Three:
All physical discs will be gone by the end of the 2020s. Blu-Ray and 4K are the last formats. From this point forward it will all be digital copy. You will either RENT the movie on Demand, or buy it with Vudu or whatever app you use (Amazon, Apple, etc.). They will do this by making the digital copy 9.99 at some point, and the physical 4K UHD disc 24.99 new. Cheaper than making plastic packages and discs, distributing etc..
Prediction Four:
Department stores will be almost completely gone by the end of the 2020s. Once online shopping expands to drones delivering to your doorstep the very day of order, this will eliminate stores such as Khols, Macys, and other more expensive store chains. Then JCPenny, Sears, Belk, and eventually Target and mall stores will suffer. Why go to the Mall to get jeans full price? Buy them half price on eBay, use a digital coupon, and then have them delivered that afternoon by drone. They will start by saving money by replacing cashiers will self check outs, then eventually close down. They will open distribution centers to send drones with items in their place.
Prediction Five:
All fast food restaurants will eliminate cashiers by the end of the 2020s. Kiosk machines will replace cashiers. Ever since McDonald's got threatened by employees to make their wages 10-15 dollars per hour, they have experimented with Kiosk machines instead of cashiers. By the end of the next decade, you will simply walk into a Burger King, or Wendys, touch screen order your meal, pay, then have your food delivered to you. The only people working will be a few cooks making the orders. This will eliminate the cashier typing the wrong order. This goes for drive thrus too.
Prediction Six:
A new device will replace cell phones: A new device will come out around 2024 that will replace cell phones. It will be something more convenient. Think how VR is already working with Cell Phones. They will probably perfect glasses or sunglasses with built in VR screens. You will wear them at all times, talk to it or scroll with your fingertips in front of your face. Think about speakers on the side of the frames near your ear, or one ear plug for privacy. The screen will digitally appear in your face. Face time, texting, calls, internet all in front of your eyes. Plus, you can accept just calls if you are driving.
Prediction Seven:
Self driving cars. Right now we have Uber instead of taxis. The future is downloading directions into a vehicle that is self aware of roads. It will drive itself from point A to Point B. It will be able to detect chips in other vehicles, detect debry or anything in it's path. It will follow speed limits, stop at red lights, and follow all traffic laws. This way, if you want a Chauffeur to work, you can have it. Want to play on your new google glasses vr? let the car drive itself.
Prediction Eight:
By the end of the 2020s, you will have 1 teacher per grade level. At some point, they will use the same technology for Facetime mixed with VR advancements to have 1 teacher per grade level for the entire county you live in. Possibly the entire state or province (depending on population and where you live). You will have one Kindergarten Teacher physically in a classroom, middle school teachers, high school and so on. The rest of the classrooms will have paraprofessionals (or teachers aides). They are strictly there to make sure there is classroom structure. The kids will grab their tablet, unplug it from the charging station, the teacher will be in a box on the right hand of the screen and the text book will be digital. The assignments will be done with an attachable keyboard, typed, and e-mailed or submitted automatically for grading. All standardized tests, books, materials, videos, etc... will all be on this tablet assigned to each student. Think about the money you will save in not hiring teachers. Most colleges will be kids in their pjs drinking coffee on their couch doing VR classroom.
Prediction Nine:
Job shortages. By the end of the 2020s, there will be a shortage of jobs. The population is booming. In 1900 there were 2 billion people on Earth, by 2000 there were 7 billion people on earth. That is an incredible rate. With the surplus of population, with the surplus of machines taking jobs (e.g. Facetime teachers, Kiosk cashiers etc) you will have the largest unemployment rate in history. Jobs will have to be created at drone packaging distribution centers and online jobs.
Prediction Ten:
A major catastrophe. My final prediction is the trend of technology, social justice warriors, kids being raised by cell phones, no social skills, no survival skills, being told they are special and they aren't, then can't get a job out of college will lead to a major catastrophe in the world. Whether it is a war or some kind of uprising, there will be a major event in the late 2020s, possibly 2029 or so. Scientists are saying in April of 2029 an Asteroid will come close to hitting Earth. Then in 2036 it will come back around and hit it. So perhaps the scare of the asteroid in 2029 will be the boiling point to an already unrest society.

1) Continued conflicts in the Middle East. I think ISIS will break up due to internal strife into separate fiefdoms. Israel will survive but become more militarized. Pakistan will be nuked by India and Iran (kidding but who knows?). Turkey will become a full on Islamofascistic dictatorship (the new Iran if you will).
2) The consolidation of power by the American kleptocracy by 2020 thanks to the Trump administration. I see the government reverting to a laissez-faire mode of deregulation so severe it'd make the Gilded Age look like the New Deal.
3) Technology will definitely render certain services like retail and fast food obsolete. I'll miss going into a Barnes&Noble though.
4) Environmental disasters will get worse. More people, more deaths.
5) Given the political climate, I can see immigration policies becoming far stricter. That's not necessarily an endorsement but it won't surprise me if it happens.
6) Hollywood cinema will remain reliant on film franchises and summer blockbusters. But the theater experience will become more expensive. The Oscars will recognize motion-capture performances as an acting category.
7) The European Union will survive but become even more bureaucratic and balkanized within its ranks. The United Nations will talk a great deal but remain a joke.
8) Russia and China will remain a pain in the ass.

1. Queen Elizabeth II passes away, and King Charles III (aka Prince Charles) becomes the new British monarch. This causes some Commonwealth nations to leave, including Australia and many Caribbean island nations, as well as talk about Britain abolishing the monarchy. 2. Australia becomes a republic, changes the flag and elects its first President. 3. Communism finally collapses in Cuba, and a democratic government forms. 4. Venezuela has a bloody revolution, requiring US military intervention. 5. The US elects its first female president, either in 2020 or 2024. 6. The Simpsons come to an end, with a grand finale narrowly chosen over the supposed "regular episode" ending one of the creators speculated on a few years ago. This final episode draws all fans and former fans together to farewell such an iconic show, though Homer's death divides viewer's opinions. 7. The Middle East continues to do what the Middle East does best. A war finally breaks out between Iran and Saudi Arabia and rages for most of the decade, whilst radical Islam fuels more organizations and terrorist attacks in the region and around the world. 8. The Dalai Lama dies without a successor, enabling the Chinese government to nominate their own. Unsurprisingly, this "successor" is pro-communist, pro-Chinese and clearly not Tibetan. 9. Shows like Lost, Mad Men and Desperate Housewives get reboots, since noughties nostalgia is all the rage. The iPod gets a "revival" of sorts. 10. A space agency (not necessarily NASA) sends a manned mission to the Moon, and plans for a manned mission to Mars by the early 2030s. I didn't mention anything about North Korea, since I think that'll probably happen this decade, and not the 2020s

1) Marriage Equality will FINALLY happen here in Australia and homophobes will go back to focusing on their own lives instead of trying to control ours...We can only wish.
2) Bill Shorten will become the Prime Minister at the next election and the Labor Party will be in government for close to a decade fixing the Coalition's fuckups like privatisation.
3) Major Record Labels will close down by the end of the decade due to more names selling their music online and turning to fan funding making them irrelevant.
4) Groups like the Neon Nazis, MGTOW, PUAs etc will hang themselves and we will celebrate.
5) Porn will become more mainstream.
6) The superhero movie craze will end.
7) Less couples will have children (we're starting to see that now).
8) Hollywood will finally go back to original ideas or making more adaptions of novels instead of the same remakes and reboots OVER and OVER again.
9) There will be less slut shaming as prudes die out.
10) There will be an invasion of North Korea if there isn't one before 2020.

After becoming King, Charles will die of natural causes just a few years into his reign.
At least one of the three companies making video game consoles will stop doing so.
NBC Television Network will probably collapse.
Hopefully, the streaming services will revive some old TV genres like westerns or variety shows or single-play anthology series.
Car brand Holden will cease to exist.
One or more of the major American car brands will also cease to exist.
The Vulcan rocket will see few launches before being discontinued.
The Russian space program will probably collapse.
126 format film will probably be revived as a retro novelty.
A woman will be elected as president of the United States, and she will be just as terrible as the male presidents have been during the last few decades.
