Trying to limit it to acts that were billed as bands (including "&s"), that I've heard on classic rock radio, and whom I'd consider some subgenre of rock (so I'm excluding bands I think of as exclusively funk or soul for example). Also excluding (primarily) 21st century bands, even though I've heard some on classic rock radio, and some are also favorites:
.38 Special 10cc AC/DC Adam and the Ants Aerosmtih Alan Parsons Project Alice in Chains The Allman Brothers Band The Amboy Dukes America Angel The Animals Asia Atlanta Rhythm Section B-52's The Babys Bachman Turner Overdrive Bad Company Badfinger The Band Be-Bop Deluxe The Beach Boys The Beatles Black Oak Arkansas Black Sabbath Blood, Sweat & Tears Blue Oyster Cult Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band Boston Boxer Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band The Byrds Canned Heat The Charlie Daniels Band Cheap Trick Chicago The Clash Climax Blues Band Cream Creedence Clearwater Revival Crosby, Stills, Nash (& Young) Deep Purple Devo The Doobie Brothers The Doors Eagles Edgar Winter's White Trash/The Edgar Winter Group Electric Light Orchestra Emerson, Lake & Palmer Faces/Small Faces Fairport Convention Fishbone Fleetwood Mac Focus Foghat Foreigner Funkadelic Genesis Gentle Giant Golden Earring Grand Funk Grateful Dead Guess Who Head East Heart Humble Pie Iron Butterfly Iron Maiden J. Geils Band Jefferson Airplane/Starship Jethro Tull The Jimi Hendrix Experience Journey Judas Priest Kansas King Crimson King's X The Kinks KISS Led Zeppelin Little Feat Lynyrd Skynyrd Mahogany Rush The Marshall Tucker Band Metallica Molly Hatchet The Moody Blues Mother's Finest Mothers of Invention Motley Crue Motorhead Mountain Nantucket New England Nine Inch Nails Nirvana The Ozark Mountain Daredevils Pablo Cruise Patto Pink Floyd The Police Pretenders Prcol Harum Queen R.E.M. Rainbow Ramones Rare Earth Red Hot Chili Peppers REO Speedwagon The Rolling Stones Roxy Music Rush Santana Savoy Brown Saxon The Smiths Sonic Youth Soundgarden Spirit Spooky Tooth Squeeze Starz Steely Dan Stone Temple Pilots The Stooges Strawbs Styx Supertramp Sweet Three Dog Night Toto Traffic The Tubes Twisted Sister Tyrannosaurus Rex/T.Rex U2 UFO Uriah Heep Utopia Van der Graaf Generator Van Halen Velvet Underground Wet Willie The Who White Zombie Wings Wishbone Ash XTC The Yardbirds Yes ZZ Top
Huge list but that's a lot of my favorite stuff--this style of music is a significant percentage of what I listen to.

Great band. So much more to them than the two songs for which they're known. (Three if you count Wait Until the Summer's Gone.) I would like to see them do another record. The last one, IV, came out 14 years ago. Here's one of my favorite Zebra tracks: Another incredible band who is more than More Than Words. (See what I did there? heh) Actually, we could probably do this for just about every band listed in this thread. RIP AOR

Not a big fan of the "genre", but I do like these more or less "rock" bands from what is generally accepted as the "classic rock" era:
Love The Byrds The Beach Boys Creedence Clearwater Revival The Velvet Underground The 13th Floor Elevators The Sonics Big Star

You are right. Some of them are AOR, Progressive Rock, Heavy Metal, Glam Metal, Power Metal, Punk, New Wave etc but most people I know class Classic Rock as bands from the 60s, 70s and 80s which is why I left out all my favourite Alternative Rock Bands with male singers from the 90s so I went with that instead of what are your favourite male lead bands from the 60s, 70s and 80s. ![Yeah. Just a question, have you heard any of the new AOR bands 'cause if you are a fan of the genre and haven't you might be in for a surprise. There are heaps of new AOR bands releasing albums but they are mostly in Europe and they don't get mainstream airplay on radio or music channels here in Australia or America 'cause they are so different than the type of Pop music the major record labels want artists and bands to perform but some of them have strong followings and have released multiple albums. Here are some you might like. There are a lot of them on Melodicrock.com and I have discovered heaps looking at that site. ![](https://s26.postimg.org/oskryucrd/penguin.gif)
Nice post, thanks. I'll be sure to check out some of those bands. Assuming that's you in your avatar, do you play guitar or are you just posing? If the former, you should play us all a song. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

No that is not me. That is singer, actress and model, McKenzie Porter. ![]() I can sing and play guitar, bass, piano, banjo, and drums and write my own songs. I used to be the lead singer of a band when I was younger. We were never famous but we played support for some famous acts such as Killing Heidi, the Sleepy Jackson and Waikiki and were offered a record deal. I quit my music career 'cause I had just got together with my Wifey and I wanted to be with her and didn't want to tour all the time. We were best friends when we were kids and after I came out my parents abandoned me and her parents who were devout Christians kept us apart for a long time when they suspected something was going on between us and I never stopped loving her when we were apart. A lot of my friends think I am really talented and should go on a show like 'The Voice' or 'Australia's Got Talent' but I don't want to be famous. I love singing and writing songs and I am trying to sell my songs to some artists but that is all.
As for Mackenzie I am a big fan of hers and have been using her as my avatar on and off for the past year on the IMDB Boards, Colliding Worlds and here. I used to get a few private messages on the IMDB boards asking me if that was me and I would tell them all about Mackenzie and I made her some new fans who went on to buy her music and watched her show. Mackenzie is currently working on her second album and Season 2 of her show, 'Travelers' is going to air on Netflix soon. Her are some pictures and videos of the gorgeous and talented Mackenzie Porter. ![](https://s26.postimg.org/kjbgixk49/smile2.gif)

No that is not me. ![](https://s26.postimg.org/jywfg8qvt/grin.gif) That is singer, actress and model, McKenzie Porter. Oh, right! I should have recognized her from this pic you posted last week because I spent a few minutes playing around with it in Photoshop. It's a beautiful photo but the washed-out contrast and yellow hue was bugging me. lol ![](https://i.imgur.com/9JpQNX1.png) ![](https://s26.postimg.org/s8tffwvq1/cheers.gif)
