While I don't agree with John Oliver on many big things, it is an intelligent and very funy show, and yes, heads and shoulders above everything else in the talk show/late night category.

He's better than that idiot with the perpetual smirk that hosts the Daily Show but who isn't? The target audience for shows like Last Week Tonight is very easily satisfied but I find it mildly amusing occasionally at best.

Funniest show currently on television? Rick and Morty. As far as late night comedy goes, I still prefer Bill Maher, but I do watch John Oliver. My only problem is what feels like a laugh track.

I am not a fan of those political talk shows/comedy hybrids. Plus, I generally don't find this guy to be funny at all.
