That'd be cool if he signed on. TEXT: While speaking with Hey U Guys at the press junket for Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Vaughn was asked about his potential involvement with Man of Steel 2. Fortunately, Vaughn had the response we were all hoping for. "I am planning another Kingsman, I've written the treatment and some of the scenes," Vaughn said of his upcoming slate. "I don't know what I'm going to do next, but I have had chats about Superman, I love Superman." Vaughn has always had a more colorful and exciting tone to his comic films, which is what fans are hoping for in the Man of Steel sequel. comicbook.com/dc/2017/09/15/man-of-steel-2-matthew-vaughn-talks-dc-superman/

He's be the first person who loves Superman to make a movie about Superman in a long, long time.

Hopefully he gets to make it! Loved his work on X-MEN: First Class!

My hope is that the next Superman movie acts as a total stand alone. It, of course, will be a sequel but it shouldn't heavily acknowledge or rely on previous events. It should be a Superman movie that can be enjoyed by those that disliked MoS and BvS.

Those are some awfully big elephants in the room.

Those are some awfully big elephants in the room. That's true. It would be difficult. But maybe after JL ties up the loose ends of Supes coming back to life they can just move on and make a definitive Superman movie that exists as something of a stand alone. I admit that this is just me wanting a great Superman movie that allows me to completely disregard the two previous movies. Because if the next movie draws heavily from MoS or BvS then it will certainly effect my enjoyment of it.

That would be a tall order even for a good Justice League movie, and we both know that's not what we're getting. Not even with Whedon trying desperately to fix it. I just wish Vaughn didn't have to continue on from the DCEU has already gone. If he had a good series to pick up the reins with, that'd be one thing, but this...

I think it's possible (however unlikely) that a new Superman movie could work as a standalone about Superman protecting Metropolis from Braniac or some other villain without relying too heavily on the events of the previous movies.

The two main things Vaughn has to get through are DCEU's Superman's established mopey, brooding personality and the fact that public opinion still has to be split over whether he's good or bad.

Those are some awfully big elephants in the room. It would seem iffy not to reference Doomsday or Zod;just a throwaway line would be sufficient to me. That being said, before BVS was a thing or at least when I thought Man of Steel 2 was still happening, I was certain the emphasis on the codex would play a role in future movies.

As I just said to Ghost Ackbar, Vaughn is definitely going to have to work every trick of the trade he knows.

Would they really have to reference those characters though? Iron Man 2 doesn't reference Obidiah, TDK doesn't reference Ras Al Ghul, ECT. I think it could stand alone without any reference at all.

The two main things Vaughn has to get through are DCEU's Superman's established mopey, brooding personality and the fact that public opinion still has to be split over whether he's good or bad. The mopey thing could be thrown away completely and replaced with better characterization without any real logic for the sudden change. It might seem sudden, but I think it's smart to just move on from what they tried in BvS. Also I think JL will resolve or possibly retcon all of the public opinion stuff.

I would rather it happened organically, but given what a fucking mess the DCEU is, that's kind of out of the question.

It doesn't matter to me because I will never watch BvS again for the rest of eternity. I will however rewatch a good stand alone Superman movie so I'd rather they just disregard the prior installments as much as possible. And I actually think that would be the smart move anyway. It may seem out of sync with the DCEU, but that's better than continuing on with such a polarizing characterization of Supes. Its bad enough that JL has to continue the story arc from BvS. It kills the ability to watch it on its own without watching BvS first.

Vaughn doesn't feel like the right guy to me.
His stuff is way too violent.

One that flows naturally from Point-A to Point-B.
