What are your latest book purchases?
I recently bought three old books second hand: How to Make Good Pictures - The Kodak Manual for Amateur Photographers (no author listed), Published 1951 The Pocket Camera Handbook (by Michael Langford), Published 1980 Shuttle Challenger (By David Shayler), Published 1987.
I have read a few pages of the second two, and hope to read some more later today.
How about you? What are your latest book purchases?

After being impressed by Black Like Me by John Howard Griffin I lately splashed out on three more books by this author: Street of the Seven Angels, Scattered Shadows, and The Devil Rides Outside .
Griffin (d.1980) was an American author, journalist and photographer whose most famous book was the aforementioned Black Like Me, a true account of how he 50 years ago masqueraded as a negro down south to personally experience discrimination and social conditions. It was later made into a film, which I have yet to watch. The other books are, respectively a social satire on censorship, a personal memoir of the loss of sight (Griffin temporarily went blind at one stage in his life) and well-received historical novel. There is one more book I am eventually looking to buy of his, Nuni which, is apparently an semi-documentary ethnographic novel and different yet again (just need to find an affordable copy!). An interesting, varied and vivid writer with a social conscience makes Griffin an exciting discovery for me.

I don't get as many books as I used to, but I did pick up the paperback version of "Creepshow", complete with great artwork by Bernie Wrightson.

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. (Soon to be a major motion picture by Steven Spielberg.) Hoping that film is a big success. Seems like it's been a while since Spielberg had a big hit.

The Complete Roderick by John Sladek - my copy is falling apart, needed a new one, the best 'robot' novel I've read
These are the Voyages Season One by Marc Cushman - a massive book on the making of Star Trek season 1, found it a half priced book store in pristine condition
