Best story in the film and inspired by that excellent Woman in the snow story in Kwaidan only with a gargoyle than a snow vampire.
But is this one of the major horror stories of inter-ethinic/inter-racial romance in mainstream horror cinema? Preston and Carola are such an amazing couple.
Growing up in the 80s and 90s as when i saw Nightcourt (Mac whom is a black man married to an Asian woman), Soul Man on HBO when i was 5 (white man and black woman), La Bamba in theaters when i was 6 (white girl and latino boy), Scarface on TV (a white woman and a latino man), Angel Heart on video (white man and black woman), Serpent and Rainbow in theaters (black woman and white man), Tales from the Darkside The Movie in theaters when i was 8 (Rae Dawn Chong and James Remar whom one is a black woman and a white man in the final story Lover's Vow which the movie is based on that classic 80s horror anthology show), MASH the series (Lebense American man and Asian woman married) to seeing Guess Who's Coming to Dinner in class when i was 12 to reading some issues of X-Men where Storm has an affair with a white man taught me growing up there is nothing wrong with interracial love.
They taught me love has no skin color/ethnicity/different cultural background but who the person is. I have been supporting interracial love/marriage since i was a kid seeing those couples in those shows/movies/comics.

I so agree all these shows and movies you have mentioned here are most inspirational and were very ahead of it's time as well . These are the shows , films , and actors / actresses we will never forget all for this uniqueness too . Thanks so much egon1982 for your subject post .

No problem! i also forgot to mention Star Trek TOS when i was 9 with an episode where Kirk a white man kissed a black lady, Gargoyles when i was 13 (the TV animated show mind you) where Eliza's parents one Najavo man and one black woman, Karate Kid 2 (Japanese girl and Italian american boy), Harlem Nights in theaters when i was 8 where it has a black woman and white man in love, Brewster's Millions in theaters when i was 4 where it has a white man and a black woman engaged, Apu on Simpsons who romanced white ladies briefly and other more TV shows/movies even an episode of X-Men where Wolverine had an affair with Storm taught me these things. You seen those shows/movies even Guess Who's Coming to Dinner to La Bamba to Nightcourt? indeed they are all inspirational and you agree love has no skin color/ethnicity/different cultural background but who the person is and pure attraction/love especially to Carola and Preston? They were indeed ahead of their time! do you agree entertainment can sometimes be a good tool to teach people some lessons about life especially about mixed ethnic romance and you agree this is the best story in the movie? I'm a white man and i wouldn't mind a good lookin' ebony lady, East Indian lady, Asian lady etc. for a girlfriend or wife.

Thanks so much egon1982 for your reply . I totally agree with you on all your points here as well . IMPO and as a Christian here too - I also believe Love is a gift from God and that no matter what culture background we all are from he loves us all equally as his children . Here also are 2 more movies I recommend to you . Of course the subject matter of these storylines are very intense but the main point of these 2 films on the whole is about friends you meet of different backgrounds and of these certain main characters looking beyond what others in their immediate lives can't see too clearly or beyond the subject at hand . A Patch of Blue (1965) A Bronx Tale (1993)

Just finished watching The Snow Woman (1968) by the director Tokuzô Tanaka . The film is based on Japanese folklore's famous ghost character called Yuki-onna (雪女, snow woman). I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and found it visually stunning. Its story is extremely haunting and could melt your heart. A spirit falls in love with a human (something that happens very frequently in Japanese folklore) and has to live with the consequences. The background music is very appealing and very Japanese. The film has a similar kind of appeal as Kwaidan but because it is one story for the entire movie you become more involved in it. It felt to me as if I was somehow transported to the cold snowy world where the movie is set. I recommend this movie to everyone. It's even available on youtube.
My rating 7.5/10
