The older I get the more I admire truly original movies. This certainly qualifies in that regard, as does its sequel, Adaptation (2002) written by Charlie Kaufman and featuring Charlie Kaufman as the main character. Puppeteers rule!

Weird movie but amusing. One wishes a camera was on John Malkovich when he was first told about the project to see his reaction.
BTW the plot is very similar to Nothing But the Night-a 1973 UK horror film.
