It's hard to judge based on a single episode of Discovery.
I think the time slot may kill the series, quicker than the writing or acting, however.

It's maybe not fair to judge Discovery yet but I didn't care for it much at all.
I do like, for the most part, the newer Trek films.

I watched episode 1 of Discovery yesterday and came on here to say how bad it was. Glad I found your thread. The acting is bad, the script is awful.

What time did it even air? It was scheduled to start at 8:30 PM, but because of Football on Sunday, that time slipped. The show ended up starting around 8:45 (or a little after). Luckily, I recorded the show scheduled to air after Star Trek too, just incase Discovery started late. |

I just watched the discovery pilot and it was indeed pretty damn shitty. Yikes. Perhaps it will get better but I didn't really like even one character. I didn't see one good thing about it and I once had dinner with Gene Roddenberry and Majel Barrett so I should like it out of some misguided feeling of obligation, right?
