Return of the Living Dead will probably always be the top of this list, there's also the opening sequence of Urban Legend, but funnily enough, for all the horror movies with a stormy atmosphere, thunder and lightning, etc., there don't seem to be a lot of them that actually have a rainstorm to accompany all the lights and noise.
Old Dark House (even though technically it isn't a horror movie), is another good example.
What are some others?

Perhaps more of a thriller w/ horror elements, but 'Identity' pretty much rains throughout the entire movie.

When I first saw this topic, I assumed I'd come up with countless titles, but as you point out there really aren't that many that add actual heavy rain to the often present thunder and lightning and heavy winds.
Identity is a solid choice. I'd count it as a horror movie, I think. Freddy vs. Jason has a brief but very heavy rain storm storm that adds some atmosphere, but mostly serves to dampen Monica Keena's white shirt.

"Suspiria" begins with a storm.
At some point in the first couple of "Friday the 13th" flicks, there's some sort of storm that occurs.

Friday the 13th Part IV - or was it the beginning of V?
All I remember is Corey Feldman in a raincoat and it pouring cats and dogs.

The first "film" that crossed my mind when I saw this thread was the Stephen King mini-series Storm of the Century (1999), but its been a while since I watched it, so I am not sure how much rain storm that is featured, but from the trailer it almost looks more like a winter storm.

Australian horror; Storm Warning (2007). I remember half of the film had wet stormy weather.

The classic Alfred Hitchcock film " Psycho " from 1960 . Marion Crane stopping at The Bates Motel for the night after taking the wrong turn off the new main highway because of the sudden heavy rain fall scene . Thanks novastar6 for your subject post .

Also the film " The Amityville Horror " from 1979 the Lutz family's very last night in their haunted home that was one serious rainstorm also with thunder and lightening too . Another film would be " Poltergeist " from 1982 the Freeling family's last night in their haunted home as well .

First thing obviously to me is "Urban Legends". The part where she attemps to rescue Tara Reid's character!

The segues had a bit of a storm. 'Ghost Ship' when they got the ship it was a bit stormy. 'An American Werewolf in London' bit of rain on the moors. 'Poltergeist' had a storm. Great to watch certain films when the weather outside your house matches the film you watch. Creates atmosphere. I always wait until it snows to watch 'The Shining' or a film like 'Fargo'. I also watch those films " The Shining" and " Fargo " in the middle of winter with snow on the ground too OffDaBoatPsycho . I so agree these films do create a mysterious atmosphere when watched in season as well .

How'd I forget that one? Once during a drought I was watching that and wishing we'd get a rain like that, poured down 2 inches that night.

Good call, ms zanadu. Marion wouldn't have ended up at the Bates Motel were it not for that storm.

As Norman Bates had said in the beginning scene when Marion was checking in for a room - " dirty night " ( meaning the horrible rain storm I believe ? ) . Thanks so much heysweden for your reply .

Back when I was logging keywords for horror titles on IMDb, I remember adding keywords like "rain" and "thunder" to several titles, but I just did an IMDb keyword search, and honestly, I can't remember any scenes with rain in the films listed other than the ones already mentioned here. There's rain in Susperia? Can't remember it. There's rain in Night of the Comet? Don't remember that either.
Oh, I just thought of one: I think there was heavy rain in 28 Days Later.

You're right Flynn I do remember that rain scene somewhat in the film - Night of the Comet (1984) . I believe it was towards the end of the movie because I remember in the entire film especially after the comet hit . Also the outside scenes especially the ground was covered in red powder everywhere and the sky was a dark reddish color too . In the end after the rain storm the sky was blue again and the red powder everywhere was completely gone as well . I haven't watched that film in awhile either so I can't remember exactly how far towards the end of the movie it actually was . I agree and also trying to remember the rain storm scene in the film - 28 Days Later (2002) . Thanks Flynn for these movie reminders too .
