I've no aversion to watching the film apart from not finding its premise (third reboot of Spider-Man 1 in fifteen years and the second in five) particularly interesting. I would see it as long as I didn't have to spend any money on it! Its completely different from all five prior Spider-Man films and well worth the time and money. And honestly, this is the truest comic page-to-film version of Peter Parker yet. Yeah, but you like those dusty old Ditko and Kirby books. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Everyone knows the Bendis/"Ultimate" Peter is the "real" one! And by real, I mean better. And by better, I mean worse... Look at this lovable chud and tell me you didn't have this exact haircut circa 2000/01: ![](http://www.writeups.org/wp-content/uploads/Ultimate-Spider-Man-Marvel-Comics-Peter-Parker-c.jpg) I know I did!

Actually, Homecoming!Peter Parker isn't that different from Ultimate Spider-Man. And I think they're going for at least a partially Ultimate Spider-Man approach down the line. Aunt May even finds out Pete's Spider-Man.

Aunt May even finds out Pete's Spider-Man. Is "Zanyada" or whatever s'posed to be Black MJ or a new character? At this point its a maybe. They were giving the character a testdrive to see how audiences responded to her. The gist of it is if she's popular, she's the new official MJ. If not, she's still just Michelle and I imagine a more traditional MJ will be brought in. Michael Keaton is great as the Vulture and the character is well-rounded right down to the script. Whether he's sympathetic or just pathetic is a matter of opinion, but you totally get why he's doing what he's doing, because its very personal. There's no grand take over the world, get revenge, or destroy New York/the world scheme going on. The term "Homecoming" has nothing to do with the high school dance. Its in reference to the fact that most of the film happens in Queens, Spidey's home. EDIT: And Ironman is in ten minutes of the film, grand total. He does not team up with Spider-Man or fight his battles. The hero is Spider-Man and he wins the day by himself.

On one hand, I didn't not like Michelle, and if they have a real plan in mind for her, I say go for it. But on the other hand, we never actually had a traditional MJ, because Mary Jane in the Raimi films was just the classic comic version of Gwen Stacy with red hair.

Yeah, it was "Ultimate" MJ, which -- like you said -- hews much closer to Gwen than Mary Jane.

That man had it in his head that it was still the 1920s and women aren't able to take care of themselves without their man when he was making those films.

What's so great about it? Its the on-screen blandness of Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst meandering aimlessly.
