Maybe not to replace the current Pope, but to augment him. You know, to show that the church is not misogynistic at all. Any God that is worth worshiping would see men and women as equal partners in the human race. There is no reason I can think of why a woman can't be Pope. This kind of logic:According to the Catholic Church catechism, Jesus Christ chose 12 men to be his apostles, and they in turn chose men to continue their ministry. Therefore, the Catholic Church argues it is bound by that precedent. "Even if the current pope was the most feminist person you could meet and believes women should be priests, they want to be faithful to what they see as Jesus's intentions," said Michele Dillon, a sociologist at the University of New Hampshire who studies Catholic culture in America. The logic goes that "had Jesus wanted women to be priests he would have called them to be his apostles." ...which I read here, does not cut it for me. What do you think?

Sounds fine and dandy to me, but I'm not Catholic - pretty sure your average Catholic would point to Bible verses about women in church and holding positions of authority, etc. I could be wrong.

WHy not let the two popes have sex with each other while you're at it. Better yet how about two gay popes since the Catholic Church used to marry gay people, yes?
Sounds great Sam. You are my hero bro.

I think a woman could be Pope. I believe women can and should hold any position of authority in the church. People misinterpret certain passages in the Bible and try to use them to support the idea that women can't be clergy or in positions of authority.

You are my hero bro. I don't think it would be appropriate for the two Popes to have sex because Popes can't get married and sex outside of marriage is seen as sin by the Catholic Church. If that was your only issue with having a female Pope then you can put your mind at rest. Or do you have any other reasons to be against a female Pope?

Alas, after a series of deadly blunders caused by distracting low-cut robes and lots of harmless pinching, the Church decided women weren't fit to be Pope. Not when I’m in charge.

But the reason I said I don't know is because it would depend on the tenets of that faith.

KIBL, a gay Catholic who posted on IMDb, said once that you couldn't even have female priests because it would distract the male worshippers too much. The irony was pretty delicious.

You don't know? I personally don't need to read any tenants of any particular faith to believe that men and women are equal in the eyes of any God worth worshiping.

For me to say "yes there should be a female Pope" and then not concern myself with Catholicism would be silly.
If your real question is could a woman do what the Pope does, then I would say "Probably" depending on the level of honesty regarding communication with God and his wishes.

Should there be? Sure, why not. Will there be? No chance.

I find it interesting that there exists people who can objectively observe that they really don't care if there's a female Pope or not because they're not Catholic, and therefore that decision doesn't affect them, their lives, their families, etc....
Yet this same logic doesn't translate to people who are heterosexual Catholics who want to ban gay marriage, even though that decision doesn't affect them, their lives, their families, etc....
I wonder why, within society, there can exist such a discrepancy in human affairs.
