8/10 and most of the best lines were from Val Kilmer.

Based on memory alone of the first time I saw it (shortly after release), I'ld have given it an 8, but I recently saw it again and found it ultimately boring and over the top, so a 6 now.
Val Kilmer is great, the others, not so much imo.

6/10. Liked it at the time, but after watching a lot of spaghetti westerns I saw how emo it was by comparison. The tough guys are so much prettier than what you used to see in a European western.
It's like the Melrose Place of the West.
But I still like the Kilmer Biehn gunfight.

It's a very entertaining film with a really good cast. I got the feeling the story was intended to be much bigger than the final edited version, a lot left on the cutting room floor. I hear the film had two directors and maybe that's why. The real standout in the film is Val Kilmer. I had heard so much about his performance that my expectations were very high and he not only met but exceeded them. He really does steal every scene he is in and it's to the film's benefit he is in a lot of scenes. What happened to that Val Kilmer? I had no idea he could be so talented. It's Oscar level work. I love Gene Hackman in Unforgiven but Kilmer's performance was better. 8/10

Kilmer, Sam Elliot and Russell were great.
Scenes with Russell and Billy Bob were quite entertaining.
8/10

6/10. No family chemistry between the actors who played the Earps.

B+
Really nice first 2/3rds, then the fighting & chasing seems to kick in & it feels needlessly long. Still, probably the best 90's western this side of Unforgiven... which isn't saying all that much either I suppose - the genre had been MTV'd & took years to grow back up again.
