Its getting raves, haven't seen it, could be highly overrated. It will likely get some some love, but the academy hates sequels, so i am not expecting any major wins.

It could score a nomination at least. They did it for Arrival. And so far, Blade Runner 2049 has far exceeded it in terms of critical praise. It'd seem weird if it wasn't at least nominated. I can see it getting a nod for BEST DIRECTOR at least. If not, that would be some bullshit.

I saw it, i don't think it gets a nod for best picture unless other awards contenders disappoint. plus its 'too white'

I could see Blade Runner 2049 replicating the success of Mad Max: Fury Road. If anything it should get Deakins a well deserved Oscar, and honestly the direction was worthy of an Oscar. Best picture? Sure, why not? |
