I haven't seen every episode (probably a little less than half of them), but I think they're absolutely wonderful. It might be the most faithful adaptation of Batman ever put to screen.
I know they were inspired by Max Fleischer's Superman cartoon series of the early 1940's, which was a great call. In both of these classic series, the tone is light enough for children, but exciting and complex enough for older viewers. The animation is also gorgeous.
I looked into buying a disc copy of season one just to enjoy some more Batman greatness, but it was $30 at a nearby movie/TV store. I was shocked, but I guess that just means it's making a comeback of sorts.
What do you guys think of it? If you haven't seen any episodes yet, I highly recommend you do.

What these fine gentlemen said. An absolute masterpiece.
It's also available in its entirety on Amazon's streaming service and maybe others, for anyone interested in checking it out.

One of the best animated series ever. I thank god it came out when it did because I don't think we'd get something like that today.

Greatest thing to ever grace television, also the main reason I became a Batman fan. The Justice League animated series wasn't a bad series as well.
OT: The 90's X-MEN and Spider-Man animated series were also good.

Great series. Although, I liked the original style more before they changed the character designs once Super Man came along.

Awesome series I brought the entire series on DVD about a decade ago and loved it, as a kid I liked it but didn't love it but as I got older you realise just how amazing the show was, the 90's was an awesome time for superhero TV shows what with Batman, Superman, X-Men, Spider-Man I even loved Fantastic 4 & Incredible Hulk, then we got Batman Beyond also which I loved, great times, now the superhero shows for kids are almost just for kids thank god Young Justice is coming back.
Also this show is awesome because it created Harley Quinn who I love and the abusive relationship with Joker which is both sad but funny, also Mark Hamil's Joker is wonderful so much to treasure about this series even 25 years on still a treat to sit down and watch.

OT: The 90's X-MEN and Spider-Man animated series were also good. Justice League Unlimited would be a close second to Batman as best animated superhero show. I loved the variety of characters, many of them semi obscure especially to a casual or non comic book reader. Like Batman the stories were well written and clever enough that adults could enjoy even multiple viewings but still fun with plenty of action and humor for kids. Several of the multi part stories were as good as any animated film I've seen. Epic kind of stuff. Too bad it had to end because I'm skeptical we will ever see an animated superhero show as good as either Batman or JLU again.

Great show.
Good use of celebrity voices for the characters.
Scarecrow and Clayface were particularly effective among the ones that never appeared in previous cartoons.
And Robin was good too.

It was a fantastic series, they'll never beat it. Even now it's still popular, it's had a big influence on the comics, the movies aswell becauseof how the cartoon changed up Mr Freeze and introduced Harley Quinn, the Batman Arkham series too.
I always thought they could just bring the series back and so I was looking forward to that Batman and Harley Quinn movie that just came out but with how that ended up I don't think they'd pull it off right now, they'd make it too kiddy and with too much humour.

I know people are really high on some of the feature-length animated DC stuff, and I admittedly haven't seen any of that, but: no other Batman adaptation of which I'm aware captures that same gritty, pulp noir, hard-boiled "detective" feel of that 90s animated series. It's my personal favorite incarnation of... actually All Things Dark Knight, including and especially Gotham itself. A close second for me would be Burton's filmic Gotham.

It stayed true to the comics and was done in a way that adults and kids could enjoy it. The animation was spot on, the designs, the stories, the voice acting, it had a wide variety of villians etc. That Mask of Phantasm movie was fantastic as well. The X-men and Spider-man cartoon from the 90's were also very good. I don't really watch the newer cartoons but from I've seen they don't look nearly as good, they're made for too young an audience now.

Most of the contemporary stuff I've seen is "fine" but not amazing. I really think there might be something in those feature-length animated DC movies from a few years back. I remember seeing what I'm pretty sure was an adaptation of the "Hush" arc (from the comics circa 2003) at a friend's house and being fairly impressed by it. I've also heard decent-to-good things about The Killing Joke, and I own The Dark Knight Returns and still haven't opened it. Whoops.

There wasn't a movie based on the Hush arc, unless you are referring to the Batman Under the Red Hood movie which was based on the following arc. If so then that one was fantastic I'd even say it was the best animated Batman movie. They really should have made a Batman Hush animated movie before making that one. They should also have made one based on Kn ightfall.

I was! My bad, mang. And, yeah, they definitely should've made Hush into at least an animated feature. I mean, that's -- that's like a capstone story you do for a fourth or fifth solo Batman movie in something like the DCEU/MCU model. I think if you trickled in that whole rogue's gallery over the course of a half-dozen or so other movies and then throw them all in Hush, along with Superman, that's a big money story.
