I've read The Remains of the Day, Never Let Me Go, and The Buried Giant and thought all three were fantastic. The Remains of the Day is probably one of my top ten novels that I've read.
Solid choice IMO.

That is the only one that I've read, too. I didn't dislike it but I don't remember being particularly impressed by it, either. Maybe now I will finally get around to The Remains of the Day, which I've been meaning to read for years - the movie is one of my favourites.

I don't care much for his work.
I thought Never Let Me Go was manipulative and implausible.
When We Were Orphans had an interesting plot but wasn't particularly gripping either.
And since I've already seen The Remains Of The Day I have very little inclination to read the book too.

Mark voyager from the old board hated Murakami and there were others there that disliked him as well. I don't recall the same level of disdain for Ishiguro.

I have only read When We Were Orphans and The Buried Giant. Both had their merits, but nothing exceptional about them. The latter, in particular, was something of a slog at times.
He does seem like a worthy pick based on the reputation of some of his work. The Remains of the Day certainly made for a wonderful film (Never Let Me Go, not so much).

Solid choice IMO. I am resurrecting this thread now that I have read 'The Remains of the Day'. On the strength of that one alone, he deserves the Nobel Prize. One of my top ten novels too.
