I swore to never watch another MCU movie again after Iron Man 3, but it has come to my attention that Dormammu is featured in Doctor Strange. I might have to make an exception. Now, obviously, I would get this out of a local public library to ensure Marvel doesn't make a cent off my viewership in any way, but I still feel conflicted
Guys, I'm worried about watching Doctor Strange. What if this leads to watching other MCU movies I've vowed to blindly hate while never actually watching?!

Dormammu looks fucking awesome in it.
but you should probably be aware that he doesn't get much screentime.

The consensus seems to be that it's at least worth the time spent watching it. Am -- am I getting soft in my old age, President Ackbar™?!

It’s not as bad as Iron Man 3. It’s not bad. Not great either, mind you.

Apart from it being a pretty good film, it's got Benedict Wong in it. The Wong factor always raises a movie rating for me.

Honestly I thought Dr Strange was one of the most bland / boring MCU outings I've seen so far. It had potential to be awesome but the direction & Cumberbatch's performance bored me to tears. 5/10 If you pass on seeing it, you're really not missing out on much.

I don't know if I can take that chance, as I consider him primarily an X-character.

It has good special effects and it certainly has Dormammu in it. Not one of the greatest movies ever, but worth a watch.

IMO it's a middling MCU outing. Iron Man meets Harry Potter with tripping Inception/Matrix effects and a reused Star Trek 09 theme.
The best reason to watch is that one should know what the others are talking about when discussing merits on forums like this.

I know. You're absolutely right. But -- what if I LIKE some of them? That's my biggest fear: enjoying the MCU. ... check that, it's being able to ever sit through Force Awakens again. But second to that, see above!!!1

Some with MCU, you are simply not the target audience these efforts are manufactured for, Gun-Beavers and all. Now, TFA is a different animal. If you have only watched it once, you must do so again to fully appreciate how abysmally unoriginal and unimaginative it is. You brain cannot possibly have processed that degree of awful from only one viewing.

As long as you don't mind lots and lots of gratuitous nudity and scenes with magicians having sex with psychedelic space monsters... Wait. Did I accidentally watch the porn parody version?!
