I hope they don't make a sequel. I they were saying that since Halliday is dead, it wasn't an avatar and he also wasn't a static NPC with a limited amount of intelligence but was more akin to AI tech which is not referenced in this movie at all. I love the world building done in this film, but I feel lime this particular story had a perfect conclusion. I could see maybe staying in that universe with different characters though, maybe a cameo by the originals. It would have to be different characters, but the stakes could not be as high as controlling the universe of OASIS which would make it kinda pointless. One of the gripes I have with the gripes is that OASIS isn't explored enough, but I think we learn everything we need to in Wade's monologue. The point wasn't to know OASIS, but to know Halliday...Or more specifically, to know the characters who know Halliday. We got glimpses of OASIS through the avatars of it's residents.

Halliday was the most interesting character in the film. I feel like there is a lot they could do with the Oasis world. You're right though, there would have to be an effective enough conflict to make it worth doing.

The Oasis is so vast while also being extremely specific that really exploring it would fill 2 movies. We got plenty of the Oasis in this. If you want more, read the book. Though I will say that as good as Olivia Cooke is, CGI Art3mis was a lot more fun to watch, so more in the Oasis for her and Aech would be fine by me. In fact, much like with Jurassic Park, Speilberg created that rare Unicorn of a movie that doesn't really spoil the book. And the book doesn't really spoil the movie. Both are equally valid explorations of this universe.

I think the movie would have been better served with Art3mis as the lead whereas in the book, Wade was fine given his class status was a bigger part of the plot. Art3mis was the true heart of the reason they had to win. it was good they let her have a key though.

I have said since the beginning that somehow Olivia Cooke was at the same time completely perfect as Art3mis and also completely miscast.

I have said since the beginning that somehow Olivia Cooke was at the same time completely perfect as Art3mis and also completely miscast. I know, but they also weren't a team in the book. She figured it out on her own rather than needing Wade. They introduced the team dynamic so early (They should have clanned up at the time her bike was being fixed) that that it was almost pointless to have Wade as the lead because he was the person I wanted to know the least about. His skill was knowing Halliday and that's just not enough for the movie since it isn't told in 1st person.Art3mis is the one with the notoriety and the purpose in winning. They basically transpose her purpose onto him and explain it as love. It would have been better for him to be the clue translator with a crush on her. The movie is more balanced though and she seems to have had more to do here than in the book. I think she was miscast in the sense that she was prettier than what I imagined Art3mis to be. So it then becomes odd when they take this pretty lady and have her be concerned about her looks when most normal guys can look past the birthmark.

Larcen26To be honest, he scored the hat trick there because you can really say the same thing about Jaws.
