.......because it's SO much easier to watch a TV show/movie, than actually read an entire book ?? SAVE FERRIS

I've read a ton in my life, and I still do, but typically not "entire books." I read mostly non-fiction, and I approach it very similarly to how it's approached in school. You don't usually read any book, including textbooks, cover-to-cover in school, and you don't just read one book at a time.
I do like fiction, but it's just not a huge percentage of my reading. And I mostly like genre fiction--horror, SciFi, fantasy, etc.

I guess the answer is implied. Obviously, for the OP, it's easier to watch TV

I stopped watching regular TV almost entirely, but I spend far too much time on the internet.

Often, after watching a TV/film documentary on something, I am encouraged to read more about, either via the Internet or via books. So TV/film ends up making me read more.

More distracting is the word I'd use, if it's something I've seen before, I leave it on for background noise while I read, the problem is when there are a lot of new shows on at night that I haven't seen, latest episodes of SVU, Chicago P.D., Chicago Fire, soon to be Chicago Med as well, etc.

I'm in the 'rarely bother to watch TV' camp, it seems an effort to watch a show knowing that there's 20-odd episodes to go and no end in sight until ratings drop. And they're all largely shit.

My reading and TV watching dropped off for several years after I got internet. My reading is back up where it used to be, but I'm still watching much less TV than I used to.

About five years ago I realized that I was spending most of my evenings and weekends camped out in front of either a TV or a computer screen and made and active choice to read more.
Now I read somewhere between 70-80 books a year as opposed to maybe 4 or 5 a year before that.

.......because it's SO much easier to watch a TV show/movie, than actually read an entire book ?? SAVE FERRISThat is definitely true for me. I love reading, and I have dozens of books and e-books waiting patiently to be read, but TV shows and movies (both at home and in theatres) take too much of my time.

I have read many books in my life. I would like to be able to read more, but my eyesight is getting worse.
