Yeah the current comic books suck. Honestly it feels like marvel more concerned about the film than writing a decent comic.

Wouldn't be surprised the movie fanbase dwarf's the comic one, a single Marvel film is probably seen by more people than the combined readership for all Marvel comics in a given year, also the films generate a lot more interest in toys and other things which is where these companies make their money from.

Actually a single Marvel film is seen by more people than the combined readership of ALL comics in a given year, ALL TITLES and ALL Publishers combined. That's one reason the comics are largely irrelevant today (like Ian Fleming novels to James Bond movies). Another reason is the fact that both Marvel and DC have been producing bad comics designed for a narrow audience for a couple of decades now. I consider modern comics to be the equivalent of the recent trend of movie remakes. Forgettable, over the top and nowhere near as good as the originals.

With comics much like SW it's not even the films that matter but the merchandising, Disney did not spend $8b buying Lucasfilm & Marvel for the film rights alone, they brought them because the vast amount of cash they can make via toys and other things, the films being hot is the easiest way to market their stuff, once that dies down the comics will likely grow in quality.
