I was going to start a suggestion thread about the politics board too. Except I like to suggest some sub-boards that would go by regions or specific countries with the most political discussions.
For instances, there could be a "World Politics" board to discuss almost any topic outside of the US or UK. Or have some sub-boards separated by region like 'African Politics', 'Asian Politics', 'European Politics', 'Latin Politics', 'North American Politics', 'Other Politics', 'Australian'. Anything that would distinguish those discussions from other dominating political discussions, like American ones. This website is also getting used worldwide too, right? Essentially serving the same purposes as IMDb message boards? I like to pry in on some discussions (or possibly engage into some) that have been going on with the world too.
I agree that everything related to politics and political discussion definitely needs to be restricted to that board alone. No off-topic posts. I think there should be a footnote under that too. Other people like to talk about movies, shows, music, games, and such on those boards. Don't drag politics into any of those boards. No one there would likely care and would rather not see posts related to politics there. I am an American and I'm also sick of seeing Trump posts where they don't belong too. Well, actually I have a dual citizenship as a Canadian. So it's not like I see a lot of Canadian politics taking as much place previously on IMDb either.
Also wiping that board may encourage more OTs to spread around like wildfire. Like I mentioned before, that's already problematic enough even back on IMDb.

Unfortunately, World Politics would stagnate or simply trolled into oblivion. The Politics board is open to political discussion about any country but it tends to end up being American politics because the bulk of users (especially the most vocal and active ones) are Americans or are at least most interested in American politics. Not that I would be opposed to it. However, I also think most of the people frequenting the Politics board are longtime regulars and aren't about to change their ways. In the end, they would go back to Politics general.

How about wiping the Politics board from existence !! That's not going to happen. Sorry. Several boards here are their own communities, and the Politics board is one of them.

In the end, they would go back to Politics general. Fair enough. I thought it would be a nice suggestion to have some sub-boards there to branch out more specific topics within politics. Just to start anew for this site. I briefly seen other threads there that mention Sweden, Europe, and Venezuela for instance. But some of those kind of posts barely received little to no discussion within that traffic, unless they pertain to American relations. But I guess it's just mostly regulars there. I wonder if a poll can be done for this kind of idea to see how others feel?

A simple solution would be to add the Conspirology forum. This way all the smart people can post there about what is going on for real, while the simpletons will have fun bitching to death each other about Democrats Vs Repubblicans useless bullshit on Politics forum.

Also wiping that board may encourage more OTs to spread around like wildfire. Like I mentioned before, that's already problematic enough even back on IMDb. I suggested this some time back. International subjects and issues noted in context of international politics get utterly ignored on the Politics board in favour of 'Libs!'/'Cons' nonsense. And to address the idea that such doesn't get discussed, it's simply not true. The board sheds users who get sick of intelligent discussion of political principles being ignored in favour of dual-pole trollery.

Totally agree. The forum is called Internet Movie Database V2 not Political & Religious Debate. It's also where most of the trolls are.

I firmly believe that the politics board was the main reason [not THE reason] why OIMDB booted the message boards.

i am unfamiliar with him. was he on politics board? i said politics was the main reason but not the [one and] only reason. i also believe how vile soapbox was getting had something to do with it, along with a smattering of other sites [full house] and a few insane posters on some other sites [full house again, star trek tng, and dance moms]. i think those with also the allowance of MULTIPLE, MULTIPLE sock accounts and other accounts under the same email address/ip address and the complete lack of deans of discipline resulted in the demise of the message boards.

The Politics and Religion boards are kind of a necessary evil. They are the barrier that keeps most of the trolls from spilling out onto the rest of the boards.
