Interesting fact. Jonathan Brandis auditioned for the role of Anakin Skywalker in "Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the clones", but lost to Hayden Christensen. The reason being that they thought that Brandis looked too old to play Anakin. Sadly, Brandis committed suicide On November 12, 2003. Although there was no suicide note, friends of Brandis reported that he was depressed about his career. What if Brandis had gotten the part? Would he have done better than Hayden Christensen?

hard to imagine him doing worse, but i'm not sure he had it in him to elevate the material the way McGregor or McDiarmid did.

The guy could act and would have done a better job than Christiansen...He felt a bit more natural...(At least Brandis wouldn't deliver the lines in such a stilted fashion...)..The only issue was him being 5 years older and two inches shorter than Hayden...

At the very least, he couldn't possibly do worse.
He'd be just the right age to play Bill Denbrough grown up in It: Chapter Two if he were still with us.

he'd look more like how young anakin looked and he must've already had some martial art training since he made the movie sidekicks. i could see it now. he was also in neverending story 2 and would bring some old time familiarity. i'm sure i would have protested his casting to a point at the time though, being he was too well known and kind of dorky. little would i have know compared to who they got he probably would have been a better choice by far.

I'd have gone with Brandis . True, if he'd been 5 years younger & 3 inches taller he'd have been better, but Ryan Phillipe was offered the role and he's even older, and only 5'9". MCasting directors talk about a 'gut feeling' they get when they find the right actor. That's what I got from Brandis - "That's Anakin". His voice was deep and could sound ominous; and of course the Skywalker blue eyes.

No casting choices could have saved that movie.
